Hello everyone,
I recently installed the IKEA Metod kitchen and am now looking for suitable care products for the cabinet fronts. My question specifically concerns which cleaning agents and maintenance products are appropriate for the different surfaces of the Metod fronts (e.g., foil laminate, matte, glossy, painted) without damaging or disfiguring them.
Perhaps someone has experience with products that protect the material over time, do not cause stickiness, or leave a chalky residue. Is it better to avoid harsh cleaners, or are there certain products that IKEA itself recommends? Tips on cleaning methods (e.g., types of cloths, moisture levels, temperature) would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your detailed tips and suggestions!

One more note about cleaning cloths: microfiber cloths are best, not regular kitchen paper or cotton towels. Kitchen paper can cause scratches, especially on smooth surfaces.
I fully agree. Vinegar can attack the coating, and glass cleaners often contain alcohol, which can dull the surface.

My experience: You shouldn’t clean with glass cleaner or vinegar, as they can damage the surface. Dish soap with water and then dry wiping is enough.

Proper cleaning requires that the cloth is not too wet and that the surfaces are dried immediately after cleaning. Otherwise, water can seep in and cause swelling or delamination.Exactly, this is a frequently underestimated issue. Especially around the edges of the panels. They are sensitive, and if moisture remains there, the MDF core can swell and the laminate can come loose.

It is important that the sprays are suitable for plastics and do not contain waxes, which can build up over time and cause discoloration.
