Hello,

According to the IKEA local staff, my question has been partially answered but not in enough detail. Perhaps someone here has relevant experience and can share any tricks that might be necessary, if there are any.

In our kitchen, model Faktum with Härlig doors, some doors need to be replaced due to damage caused by swollen laminate. Whether this qualifies as a warranty case is not the topic here.

What I want to know is:
Can the Härlig doors be replaced with doors from a newer series? For example, HÄGGEBY or Veddinge.

From what I’ve heard, adjustments are necessary. What exactly are the issues?
Can these be handled with basic carpentry skills and the right tools? Or are the new hinge holes placed so close to the old ones that they overlap?

As far as I can tell, the problem is not due to the external dimensions.

Thanks for any helpful advice.

Hello,

as long as the FAKTUM fronts are still available, I would avoid the effort of modifying them.

1. With Metod doors, the gap width would decrease from 3 mm to 1 mm (0.1 inch to 0.04 inch). This may increase the chance of the doors colliding with the neighboring cabinet door when opened.
2. The hinge drill holes can always be placed in a suitable position by either a) drilling them on the other side or b) mounting one of the two hinges on the cabinet body slightly higher or lower.
3. It is also possible to install fronts from third-party suppliers such as beptum.

Sure, but we already have a gap in the order list.
1. With METOD doors, the gap width would decrease from 3 mm to 1 mm (0.12 inch to 0.04 inch). This could increase the chance of door collisions when opening neighboring cabinets.

That would of course be problematic, but what is causing this situation?
The new hinges? Thicker doors?
2. The hinge hole drilling can always be adjusted appropriately by a) drilling on the opposite side or b) mounting one of the two hinges on the cabinet body slightly higher or lower.

Sure, I’ve done things like that in the past as well.

Are there also delivery issues with HÄRLIG?
[Quote]1. With METOD doors, the joint width would decrease from 3 mm to 1 mm (0.12 inch to 0.04 inch). This could make it more likely for the door to collide with the adjacent cabinet’s door when opening.

FAKTUM was narrower, e.g. FAKTUM width 598 mm (23.5 inches), METOD 600 mm (23.6 inches).

....FAKTUM was narrower, for example, width FAKTUM 598 mm (23.5 inches), METOD 600 mm (23.6 inches).

That would mean the doors are exactly as wide as the cabinet carcass.
Are the new cabinets wider than the old ones?

Or is it actually the case that 600 mm (23.6 inches) is the nominal dimension, but the actual width is less?
This has been the case for all doors so far.

Yes, they are 2mm (0.08 inches) wider. The fronts are still 3mm (0.12 inches) narrower than the carcass.
