Hello everyone,
I have installed matte IKEA Metod cabinet fronts in my kitchen and am now facing the challenge of cleaning them properly without damaging the matte finish or surface. It is important to me to effectively remove stains, fingerprints, and light dirt, while avoiding harsh cleaning agents or abrasive cloths that could potentially cause scratches or damage the fronts. Does anyone have experience with which products and methods work best to keep matte IKEA Metod fronts clean and well-maintained over time? Are there any specific tips for cleaning matte laminate or foil fronts from the Metod system that I should definitely keep in mind? Thanks in advance for your advice!

For cleaning matte IKEA Metod fronts, please observe the following:
- Use only mild, pH-neutral cleaning agents.
- A damp, soft cloth (ideally a microfiber cloth) is sufficient.
- Avoid harsh chemicals such as ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners.
- For heavier dirt, a mixture of water and a small amount of mild, soap-free dish detergent is recommended.
- Never use abrasive sponges or hard brushes.
This approach prevents the matte surface from becoming glossy or damaged.

Hello Lisebau,
I understand your concern, as matte surfaces are indeed more sensitive than glossy ones. The most important points are:
- First, wipe off dirt with clear water and a soft, lint-free cloth.
- If that is not enough, you can use a mild dish soap.
- After cleaning, always wipe again with a damp cloth to remove any soap residue.
- Never use aggressive cleaners, abrasives, or alcohol, as these can damage the laminate.
I have personally had very good experiences with special laminate cleaners designed specifically for matte surfaces, but those are probably only worth it if you need to clean often. If the fronts don’t have deep scratches, matte surfaces can also be well maintained with microfiber cloths without causing them to become glossy.
