Hello,

I have spent the last two months planning my new Metod kitchen in great detail, with IKEA Laxarby fronts in white. Today I wanted to place an order, but unfortunately, the online shop is acting completely unstable when I try to order the Laxarby fronts in white...

Does anyone happen to know if these Laxarby fronts are no longer available, or what might be going on? In my opinion, they were by far the nicest fronts, and I really wanted to have them...

Best regards

Hello,

Laxarby is being discontinued. I was at Ikea in December and wanted to order a kitchen with Laxarby fronts, but they no longer had all sizes in stock at the central warehouse.

I ended up choosing GRYTNÄS, although it seems that is being discontinued now as well. Instead, there is now "Sävedal," which looks very similar. This can be very frustrating. I still miss Kroktorp..

Hello,

I find that very unfortunate – especially since I was at Ikea two weeks ago, and the kitchen planner there told me I still had at least until June because the catalog is valid until then...

Now I have to look for fronts other than Laxarby, but a laminated kitchen is not an option. The only alternative would be Bodbyn, but I’m still unsure whether the fronts might be too busy for an open-plan kitchen.

Is there any hope that a successor to Laxarby will be added back to the range soon?

Best regards,
Simon

Hello,

Does anyone happen to have experience with third-party cabinet fronts?

I find the "SM white shaker," category B3, quite interesting. The price would be reasonable for me, but they do not ship to Europe. Does anyone know of any alternatives?

Best regards,
Simon

Hello, with third-party providers like beptum, pokorny, schnitt-stelle.com, etc., I have only seen foil-coated or melamine fronts so far.
Veddinge is not foil-coated and has a subtler appearance than BODBYN.

Hello,

Simon, looks like we’re in the same boat. Earlier this year, I also planned my new “dream kitchen” at Ikea with the Laxarby fronts. But when I wanted to place the order two days later... everything was gone. When I asked Ikea, I got the disappointing answer that it was discontinued. Naturally, I was quite disappointed, especially since the only (for me) alternative, Grytnäs, was discontinued around the same time. I also can’t understand why they would remove such a beautiful front from the range, especially since the kitchen is still available, but only in black. Who would want a black kitchen in their home? So now I’m also considering whether there is another alternative or if I might even carve the fronts myself out of wood. It can’t be that difficult to cut boards to size. For that, though, you’d need the exact measurements and details like how the drawer fronts are attached to the drawer boxes.

@Simon, have you found a solution by now?

In the meantime, I’m still sitting on my moving boxes... :-/
This time, I’m really disappointed with Ikea. It’s a shame that more and more wooden furniture—the kind Ikea was once known for—is being discontinued. Even if in this case it was only the fronts of the kitchen. But at least there was some wood involved.

Best regards,
Annette
