Hello everyone,
I am currently considering which video door entry system to buy for our single-family house on a hillside.
I find the video feature very useful since our living and dining area is located in the basement, so you don’t have to go upstairs every time the doorbell rings.
There are many versions on the market, and unfortunately, they vary significantly in price.
Do you have any recommendations on which ones to buy?
What do you think about this one?

Hello everyone, here is a brief review of the Balter EVO Access Point Video Door Intercom System for participants.
I purchased a Balter video door intercom system for our single-family home, including a WiFi home monitor and RFID chip, and have been using it for three months now. The camera resolution and viewing angle are excellent, and the display on both the monitor and the app is very clear. The audio quality is also impressive. Overall, using the monitor and the app is very convenient and enhances the door intercom experience in a pleasant way. Installation was extremely easy, and unlocking the door with the chip is really simple. Opening the door from the monitor is also very practical, for example when you are busy in the kitchen. Photos and videos can be saved very easily. The app is also excellent, especially if you are not at home yourself, as it allows you to keep track of various activities. I can therefore highly recommend this door intercom system.
I personally bought it from SatKing.
Good luck, Dirk_DS

Good luck, Dirk Hello Dirk,
I’m also trying to decide which video door intercom system to choose. Did you install the system yourself, or was it handled by an electrician? Could you specify the exact model you have and also which monitor exactly you use?
I really like the design. If I’m understanding correctly at first glance, do they all operate over a 2-wire connection? For the stations with “IP” in the name, is it possible to integrate those into a network?
Last but not least: If you don’t mind sharing, how much did you pay?
Hello everyone,
I’m bringing up this topic again. We are currently renovating and need to decide on a solution for the entrance area soon. We require two intercom systems inside, not necessarily with video; audio only would also be sufficient. We can place the order, and the electrician will handle the installation.
Possible configurations:
- Intercom and mailbox separate
-- with video intercom
-- with audio intercom
Or
- Intercom and mailbox combined
-- with video
-- with audio
I am a bit overwhelmed by all the options. We like the integrated models from Zülpicher stainless steel design (e.g., surface-mounted B3) best because we could order them in the same color as the front door (gray-blue). However, the audio-only option is already over 1000€ (about $1090), and the video version around 1500€ (about $1635).
Are there any similar options that might be more affordable? Our electrician recommends Balter, but their audio-only selection is quite limited. The connection can be either IP or 2-wire.

I’m in almost the same situation. We are about to have the external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) installed now, and we have to decide where to place the outdoor lighting and the doorbell system on the house. I’m also overwhelmed by the number of possibilities. Inside, we want 2 stations as well, preferably both with video. But I’m not really eager to spend several thousand dollars on this either...
So I’m also interested in further experiences. I’m going to take a look at the Metzler VDM10 2.0 now.
I paid 599 euros for the outdoor unit (LAN/IP version including RFID), and an additional 199 euros for each indoor unit.
However, I am doing the configuration and installation myself. The plasterers installed the mounting box on the outside, and the electrician laid a LAN cable.
