Hello everyone,

I am currently considering which video door entry system to buy for our single-family house on a hillside.
I find the video feature very useful since our living and dining area is located in the basement, so you don’t have to go upstairs every time the doorbell rings.

There are many versions on the market, and unfortunately, they vary significantly in price.
Do you have any recommendations on which ones to buy?
What do you think about this one?

Does anyone have experience with the BALTER EVO 2-wire BUS?

I have the surface-mounted version and am generally satisfied with it. Installation and connections were relatively straightforward. I only have two points that bother me a bit:

- The camera positioning is not ideal in our case. Although the system is mounted at head height right next to the front door, I can see some people only partially or not at all because they stand too far toward the middle in front of the door, and the camera angle is too narrow. A wide-angle camera would be preferable here.

- The limited number of ringtones. I found only one tone that is acceptable for us. Upon inquiry, I was told the manufacturer is aware of this issue, but no short-term changes are planned. Also, it is not possible to upload custom melodies :-(

We have the flush-mounted version and experience the same issue with the camera position because we have a step at the door and a glass panel between the door and the doorbell, leading to differing visibility of people in front of the camera.

Regarding the ringtones, that is correct. If you have some IT skills, it is possible to install Asterisk with the SIP firmware—just search online, as other forums provide excellent instructions.

This is a bit off-topic, but I don’t want to create a separate thread, so I’ll just ask here:
We would like a door opener with a fingerprint scanner, preferably WITHOUT video, just as an intercom. What would you recommend? It shouldn’t be too expensive...

Does anyone have experience with Mobotix door intercom systems? The company has been well established for years in camera and property surveillance and is probably one of the market leaders, but I haven’t seen any feedback regarding their door intercom systems.

Hmm, well, the cameras have always been able to transmit video and audio, so moving to an intercom system isn’t much of a step.

That’s true, but I’m curious whether the door intercom works as well as the rest. Other manufacturers of video door intercoms probably don’t build the cameras themselves either, and even if they get good ones, it still seems possible to mess up the rest of the system...

I’m interested in this product because the manufacturer promises a hemispherical panoramic view, meaning a seamless, wall-to-wall perspective. If someone from the forum can confirm that they have it and that it has proven reliable in practice, I would consider buying it.
