Hello everyone,

I am currently considering which video door entry system to buy for our single-family house on a hillside.
I find the video feature very useful since our living and dining area is located in the basement, so you don’t have to go upstairs every time the doorbell rings.

There are many versions on the market, and unfortunately, they vary significantly in price.
Do you have any recommendations on which ones to buy?
What do you think about this one?

We will use the "Intercom Set-IP" from Dahua, plus two additional indoor stations. It is distributed by aasset and appears to be identical to the Goliath IP system. All modules are powered via PoE, and the switch for this is also included in the package.

This puts us at about half the price of the Verso system with three indoor stations.

IP-based systems are best suited for this purpose. For example, we use the 2N IP Verso. There is also an indoor touch panel available as an internal unit. Everything is wired using network cables, and power can be supplied via PoE or a separate line.

The device has a huge range of features; for instance, it can be connected to SIP-enabled phone systems (e.g., FritzBox) and integrated into other setups via WebServices. Additionally, there are various add-ons like RFID, NFC, KeyPad, etc. And of course, there’s an associated smartphone app.

In terms of price, it starts at around €800 (approx. $850) for the basic outdoor unit with camera and €700 (approx. $745) for the indoor unit, which is still lower than comparable systems from Siedle and Gira.

Are you already using it?

I’m currently looking for a door station myself. I’m torn between the Verso and the Wantec Monolith. The Monolith offers E-Key, but I personally prefer RFID with a chip because there are fewer affordable options that also look decent.

May I ask which setup you have? Which modules? Surface-mounted or flush-mounted?

Thanks!

Ours is surface-mounted, with video and the keypad module, tamper contact, and security relay. I am very satisfied with it, especially because I was able to integrate it quite well into my Loxone server. However, I don’t have the indoor station, as we use a smartphone and FritzBox.

Thanks for the explanation, one more question:

2N states a horizontal viewing angle of 120° for the camera.

Can the camera itself still be rotated inside the housing?

Our issue is as shown in the picture. The detection area only starts about 60cm (24 inches) away from the door.
I know that most people tend to step back after ringing, which would actually place them within the camera’s field of view.
But if someone stays right in front of the door, I can no longer see that person.

Thanks for your help!

Technical drawing: Door with opening arc, stairs on the left, diagonal beams, 120° angle.

No, unfortunately the camera inside the Verso cannot be rotated; it was possible with the previous model.

Hello everyone,

We are currently dealing with the same question. We are still in the shell construction phase but want to think ahead.

Our electrician is installing the standard Marmitek Doorguard 450, but we are not fully convinced by this system since there are no reviews available online. We also don’t have a KNX system installed in the house, so it’s quite "old school."

We are looking for a video intercom system with 2 indoor units for the ground floor and first floor. The app control functionality that many users mention sounds great, but we would only want to use it for video transmission and speaking, not for unlocking the door (outside of Wi-Fi). We definitely do not want fingerprint access.

The range of products on the market is just too large.
