ikeasteve10 Dec 2010 08:19Hello everyone!
I’m at the stage of my kitchen installation where I plan to attach the wall panels in the next few days.
The base surface will be a smooth hardboard panel.
I also considered using rails, but that will be difficult because the back section is meant to be a passage, which would make sliding the panels in quite complicated. Plus, I couldn’t find suitable rails in four different hardware stores! That’s why I decided to go with adhesive instead.
My kitchen is a single row measuring 2.35 meters (7 feet 9 inches) long, so quite small – and I want to add panels on both the left and right sides, basically forming a U-shape.
Does anyone have experience with gluing wall panels? Mine are satin-finished!
Does it work well? Because the “raw” panels are a bit warped and not 100% flat!
I would really appreciate any tips and experiences!
Best regards, Stefan

küchenhexe30 Dec 2010 19:11Hello,
as an experienced IKEA kitchen salesperson, I can tell you that at IKEA we usually advise customers to use either double-sided tape or silicone.
The rails are no longer available, which I personally find unfortunate.
Did you buy the Fastbo for €9.99 (about $11) or the one for €17.99 (about $20)? The €9.99 (about $11) version was discontinued because it was of questionable quality (it warped over time). The €17.99 (about $20) one is the replacement and is more expensive because it is much better.
Hope this helps
