Hello everyone, I recently bought the Metod kitchen cabinets from Ikea and wanted to install the drawers. Unfortunately, my drawers don’t slide very smoothly and often feel stiff or catch when opening and closing.

My specific question is: How do I install the Ikea Metod drawers so that they run smoothly and without resistance? I am using the included Blum drawer slides, but the result is rather suboptimal. Maybe you have tips on proper alignment, adjustment, or any installation tricks? Information about lubricants or settings on the slides would also be very helpful.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Make sure that the drawer slides are installed perfectly parallel and level. Even small deviations can cause the drawers to operate stiffly. I also always apply an oil or silicone spray to the slides.

Check the fastening points of the rails. Often, they are not tightened properly or may sag slightly, causing resistance. Tightening them and, if necessary, realigning usually helps.

I would also recommend keeping the rollers on the tracks clean. Sometimes dust or small wood chips accumulate, which can slow down the movement.

Regarding lubrication: Do NOT use WD-40 or other oil-based sprays. Dry lubricants such as graphite powder or specialized silicone spray are better. Oil can attract dust.

Also make sure that the drawer front fits properly and is free of play. If the front is misaligned, it will pull on the slides and will not operate smoothly.
