I can only answer the first question. All drillings are accurate. If you no longer remember how to remove the fronts and the railing, feel free to ask.

Hi everyone, hi IKEA expert,

regarding Abstrakt, I can only share positive feedback. Abstrakt is a very durable and forgiving cabinet front, as long as you leave it alone!

Avoid using any cleaners, microfiber cloths, or kitchen paper towels for wiping. If there are stains, wipe them off immediately. The best option is a soft cotton cloth used exclusively for this purpose, possibly with a little dish soap solution, and that’s it. Complaints about Abstrakt, if any, occur only due to improper, overly enthusiastic care or rough handling.

In general, the rate of complaints for all fronts nowadays is very low. IKEA has really improved. At most, issues occur with versions that are 2 to 5 years old, mainly around dishwashers and range hoods — places where moisture and temperature fluctuations are common.

Best regards

Nayla

P.S. If Norje is still an option: these cannot be combined with Blankett handles. The seam of the frame is exactly at the drilling points for the handles.

Hello everyone,

Great to still receive some feedback about Abstrakt. Yes, I’ve also read that foil and microfiber don’t work well together. If we go with Abstrakt, I’ll probably have to rethink my approach. Quickly wiping bread crumbs off the countertop with a dishcloth (of course microfiber) and then cleaning the grease spot on the front probably won’t be possible.

Norje is still in the running, but the handles will stay. I still like Lansa best, and they are still acceptable.

We plan to visit IKEA this weekend to get another feel for the fronts. Since our older daughter needs the trunk for her shopping, we won’t be able to bring any fronts home yet. My husband only knows Ädel and Norje from the catalog, so maybe he’ll prefer Abstrakt in person – who knows.

In the end, we have to make the decision ourselves, and whether you grow tired of one front or another over time is something you can never really predict in advance.

I’ll try once more to get the staff to give me a precise date regarding the system change.

Many thanks for your replies

Hello
I hope it’s okay to use this thread to learn more about the front panel we have chosen, Lidingö in ivory white.
Does anyone know how this front is constructed (foil, painted, etc.)?
Has anyone had any experience regarding its durability?
Thank you.

Best regards

Hi,

since I’m currently really into kitchen fronts, I brought back some information from my last trip to Ikea.

Lidingö consists of an MDF board coated with acrylic paint. Stat and Applad are apparently constructed similarly. If you find too little information online about yours, just search for the others.
Applad was also recommended to me as an alternative, but I found reports about the paint peeling. I don’t have any experience with painted Ikea fronts myself.

Best regards

I have a few Applad fronts that I purchased in 2004 and 2009. So far, none of the paint has peeled off, but there are some small spots where the paint is missing (about a 1mm (0.04 inch) diameter circle) on a few corners. Unfortunately, I can’t say whether this happened from daily use or was caused by the moving company, which damaged quite a few things. I find the polyester paint quite easy to maintain. However, I also have to say that in my case, some items show less wear after years of use than after being lent out just once.

Hi,

As an alternative, Applad was recommended to me, but I did find some reports about the paint peeling. I don’t have any personal experience with painted Ikea fronts.
