I can only answer the first question. All drillings are accurate. If you no longer remember how to remove the fronts and the railing, feel free to ask.

miss-marple19 Sep 2013 16:59Hi,
We were at the age of ride-on toys when the kitchen was being installed, and hopefully the upcoming driving lessons won’t take place in my kitchen either
Still, teenagers can be messy sometimes. A veneered kitchen front should be easy to wipe clean though.
How does your mother clean her Nexus? Or how do you clean yours? Based on what you said, I assume you’re not keen on plastic and probably have wood instead.
Best regards
My mother has the Nexus Birch, the new version without the beech frame, and hasn’t had any problems with it. When veneer peels off, I see two possibilities: poor adhesion → material or workmanship defect, or constant impact on the edges (ride-on toys don’t belong in the kitchen!). However, if that happened, the wood on the edges should also dent, which would make the issue visible and unrelated to lacking glue.

IKEA-Experte19 Sep 2013 20:32Perhaps the following is still somewhat interesting. On the Norwegian website, there is an Excel file that allows you to reorder all Faktum parts. The prices are the same as those in the old purchasing guide valid until April.
The Dutch kitchen catalog states on the front that prices are valid until December 31, 2013, inclusive. ?!

The Nexus is also coated, so you can simply wipe it with a damp cloth (with a mild cleaner or dish soap).
Yes, I love wood for the entire living area. Unlike people, wood can age, change color, and develop a patina.
I'm not against plastic, but I’m not a fan of high gloss finishes.
@IKEA-Expert,
I would suggest February; definitely not January because of the Christmas season.

miss-marple20 Sep 2013 13:28Hello,
That could really suggest a change starting in early 2014. After my last visit to IKEA NL during the summer holidays, I rather thought they would switch to the German system, because they were still busy assembling new Faktum kitchens, even though only one cabinet door was discontinued—and that one hadn’t been assembled before either.
Norje and Ädel are also lacquered, so it should be the same. I don’t use harsh cleaners anyway; I just try to clean up any spills immediately.
Well, a tedious topic: the obsession with youth! But new wood is deliberately aged to create a vintage look!
Thanks for your answers. Now I will discuss with my family which cabinet door we want. At the moment, the wood option is in the majority here. I still can’t quite let go of Abstrakt, because I would have chosen it nine years ago if the price had been right.
Let’s see what it will be.

The Nexus is additionally lacquered, so you can simply wipe it down with a damp cloth (with a bit of mild cleaner or dish soap).

IKEA-Experte20 Sep 2013 18:24I have never read about any issues with Abstrakt, even though this front style sells very well in Germany. Some time ago, I took a closer look at one of these fronts, and as far as I could tell, the laminate was about one millimeter (0.04 inches) thick. In contrast, on a Bestå carcass in walnut, a damaged area revealed that the laminate thickness was in the micrometer range.
Unfortunately, Nayla has very little time at the moment. She might be better positioned to say whether there have ever been any problems with Abstrakt.
If the laminate frequently peels off, it would be quite unwise for IKEA to continue selling it with a 25-year guarantee and having to replace it constantly.
