Well.
Either the IKEA person didn’t read their employment contract properly or they were planning to change jobs anyway 😉
As I have mentioned elsewhere, it is simply IKEA’s business policy (and this is by no means a secret) to constantly change their product range.
In the end, everything is ALWAYS discontinued at some point.
It’s that simple.
When something is discontinued at IKEA, you can simply keep buying it until the stock runs out—after that, it’s gone for good.
The purpose of changing the product range is to create capacity for new products. It doesn’t make much sense to fill yourself up with “old stuff.”

Nayla_10683 Jun 2012 20:26I really wonder why people always criticize IKEA when it comes to extensions or buying additional items later on. Where does it say that you can still purchase matching parts years down the line? We’re not talking about cars here. Try to buy spare parts from other kitchen suppliers or those well-known home improvement store kitchens after just a few weeks, let alone months or years. It’s impossible!
Everyone talks about “keeping up with the times.” Why shouldn't that apply to IKEA kitchens as well?
And yes, there have been some changes with IKEA kitchens. Apart from updates to hinges and drawers, for example, single drawers for 50cm (20 inch) cabinets are no longer available, and there are no longer carcasses in beech wood. These last changes happened roughly 10 years ago, give or take.

edit: thank you very much, of course. – I’m a bit out of it at the moment.

I am currently trying to reorder some parts for my kitchen and found that I cannot get individual Faktum base cabinets with the Nexus dark brown/black front. I have already checked the availability at several IKEA stores in Germany and the Netherlands and receive messages like
"This item is not part of the range of the IKEA store you selected.
Please choose a different store."
Could this be an indication that the Faktum series is being discontinued?

Elvis_122023 Jun 2012 17:43No, this only means that the Front Nexus Braunschwarz is currently being discontinued. If you hurry, you might still find remaining stock at your local IKEA store. However, this cannot be guaranteed.

werkleiter28 Jun 2012 18:35Hello,
I would like to wait for the new kitchen series, but unfortunately, I need a kitchen now. 😉
I am about to order my IKEA kitchen, but now the problem has come up that, according to the online information, some appliances are no longer part of the range. Does this mean they will soon be replaced with other models as part of the catalog update? And how long will it take for the new appliances to be available? Or would it be better to install other appliances (Siemens)?

IKEA-Experte28 Jun 2012 20:14I’m not sure if all the appliances that will be removed are listed.
If you can get an appliance at a big discount, that’s attractive; otherwise, you can’t go wrong with Siemens. The best thing is to visit your IKEA and ask what else is available or when new items will be released.
