Hello dear community, I am slowly getting desperate. In November 2014, I bought a kitchen from IKEA and have already replaced the siphon under the sink twice with the same model because it keeps leaking at the drain. There have already been two small floods in the kitchen, and it’s really frustrating. Does anyone know this problem?

Best regards, dejan

I suspect that the extendable trap, which is also connected to the washing machine drain, is simply too heavy and causes the seal on one side of the sink drain to leak air. Additionally, even when the drain is closed, water no longer stays in the sink but drains away slowly.

Hello,
I have had the siphon for 6 years and haven’t had any problems with it. The dishwasher drain is also connected to mine.
The hose coming off the siphon also supports the whole setup in my case.
Is the metal sheet of the sink completely level around the hole?

Have you noticed water leaking between the sink and the siphon? Or could it be coming from somewhere else?

The seal of the drain strainer is watertight on its own. If the seal is intact, there must be something wrong with the metal part of the drain, but that was replaced as well...

Good morning, I did not shorten the siphon hose.
The water is coming out exactly at the seal where the hole of the sink is located, right where the siphon drain connects to the sink.

If water is leaking towards the trap and the sink’s metal sheet does not have a (slight) dent beneath the drain, try installing the trap with the pipe pushed in further and a shorter hose. Otherwise, I would screw a hook into the countertop (assuming it is wood) and secure the rear-facing trap with a tie for stabilization.

Make sure the screw on the drain is tightened sufficiently. If that doesn’t help, using plastic plumber’s putty instead of the gasket might solve the problem.
