stern_20291 Sep 2011 19:59Hello,
maybe some experienced IKEA fans can help me...
I have a beautiful IKEA kitchen, purchased in 2009 and assembled by a former IKEA installer. I’m not really skilled at this myself.
Now to my problem: I have two 90cm (36 inches) corner base cabinets, and by now the carousels inside hardly turn anymore. In one cabinet, there is a terrible creaking and squeaking, and you can barely turn it at all. In the other, it has recently started creaking as well, and both levels rotate.
I had the impression that the issue might be related to the load, so I tried to distribute the weight more evenly. But that only helped a little. Overall, the situation got worse over time.
In one cabinet, there are plastic items and some ceramic baking dishes, evenly distributed on the lower shelf.
In the other cabinet, there are pots and pans.
Does anyone have any good advice for me? I would really appreciate it.
Thank you and best regards

IKEA-Experte1 Sep 2011 20:46Hello,
I would first check if all parts are in their correct places (consult the assembly instructions for this) and inspect whether any parts show signs of wear. If everything is in order, it is advisable to spray all moving parts with silicone spray.
Please note that the maximum load per shelf is specified as 12 kg (26 lbs).

stern_20291 Sep 2011 22:26Hello,
I would first check whether all parts are where they are supposed to be (consult the assembly instructions for this) and inspect the parts for signs of wear. If everything is fine, it is recommended to spray all moving parts with silicone spray.
Please note that the maximum load per shelf is specified as 12 kg (26 lbs).Hello IKEA expert,
thank you very much for the advice. I will take a look over the weekend and get some silicone spray. However, I’m afraid the pots actually weigh more than 12 kg (26 lbs) per shelf, so I would probably need to store them elsewhere. And that will be really difficult because the kitchen is very small; the stove is located between the corner cabinets, and there is only a drawer cabinet, a trash bin cabinet, and a base cabinet under the sink left.
But first, I will try following your suggestions, and then we’ll see.
Have a nice evening

IKEA-Experte1 Sep 2011 22:31That is really little cabinet space. I also have a small kitchen and try to make use of every possible area. I keep the trash in the base cabinet under the sink and in toe-kick drawers.

In the trash bin cabinet, I only use small bins without pull-out rails to save space for other things like cleaning supplies. I also have an additional hanging basket there that isn’t originally part of the cabinet. There’s still a water heater in the base cabinet under the sink, so there’s simply no room for trash bins. The kitchen really isn’t big; even the IKEA kitchen planner back then kept giving an error that the two sides should be more than 1.20 m (4 feet) apart... Cooking together with two people only works if you really like each other...
