Hello everyone,

I’m new here and have been following your IKEA forum with great interest, especially regarding IKEA dishwashers.

I have the following problem. I have a small and very tricky, angled kitchen. That’s why I ordered a kitchen from IKEA and had the kitchen measured as well. So, the measurer spent a full hour in the kitchen to take precise measurements.

The planning and ordering were completed on site at IKEA. According to the plan, the dishwasher was supposed to be installed parallel to the other cabinets. However, when the carpenter (a friend) came to assemble the cabinets, it quickly became clear that this was not possible at all. Anyway, we still managed to fit the 45cm (18 inches) dishwasher between the cabinets, but the cabinets ended up arranged in a “U” shape. Sounds odd, but it looks good.

After the kitchen was finally set up after about six weeks, the issue came down to the sliding hinge. It became clear that it cannot be installed because the cabinets have to be parallel next to each other in order to attach the sliding hinge components to the adjacent cabinets or panels. Due to the lack of space, I cannot slide any panels in between nor make any improvised adjustments.

The carpenter says I shouldn’t worry and that he will come up with another solution, but he struggled quite a bit during the assembly of my few kitchen parts. So, I am quite concerned whether there really are other (non-IKEA recommended) options to find a reasonable solution to make the dishwasher look decent. Sure, some trimming could be done, but I don’t see any way (no drilling) to attach the panel directly to the dishwasher, if you know what I mean.

IKEA has been rather uncooperative (they unfortunately refused my suggestion to check the situation on site). They say I can return the dishwasher. But I had it delivered by them, and I find it very inconvenient (especially as a single woman) to find someone to uninstall the dishwasher and take it back. So far, I have not found anyone to do this for me. And honestly, I want to keep the dishwasher, provided that the front panel can really be attached properly without the sliding hinge.

I hope my text was reasonably clear. I look forward to your opinions.

Hello,
but for that the carcasses are positioned "U-shaped" next to each other.

I don’t understand. Photo?

How a front panel is generally mounted on the appliance without assistance is shown in the instructions for Faktum.

[Sektionschef posted a link in the dishwasher front thread to a French picture showing a solution with ERSÄTTARE.]

In the instructions from Faktum, I can only see how it is hooked in at the bottom, but not how it is ultimately secured at the top. I don’t quite understand, maybe I’m missing something?

😀 Thank you.

My mistake was thinking that since the screws are already in place there, they weren’t meant to be replaced with longer ones. But some are already installed. I’m not very skilled with DIY, even though I can manage to assemble an Expedit shelf. 😀
