I have a general question about kitchen installation. Did you build your kitchen entirely by yourselves, or did you get help from IKEA?
We are still considering whether to use partial installation, where someone just aligns everything and makes the connections.
We’re not exactly sure if we feel confident connecting things like the sink or the oven ourselves. An electrician would probably be available to help with the connections, but is that advisable, or would it be better to get professional assistance?
What experiences have you had with kitchen installation and connections?
Thanks for your answers!
Best regards,
kadi_7138

If you don’t have to pinch every penny (or don’t have a helpful friend willing to put it together in exchange for a meal), it’s best to have the kitchen delivered and the assembly done by a professional installation service.
[list:3gudx7yd]You avoid waiting for parts that are out of stock or unavailable.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]You save trips back and forth because a small part is missing.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]You don’t have to make countless trips to the hardware store looking for plugs or screws.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]You reduce the risk of drilling holes in the wrong place (for example, handles) because of a mistake.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]You won’t be left shaking your head at instructions that sometimes seem only suitable for complete beginners.[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
[list:3gudx7yd]And so on…[/list:u:3gudx7yd]
I used to assemble absolutely everything myself. But after having a Pax wardrobe put together by professionals due to lack of time, I truly appreciated what a blessing this installation service can be. Of course, you still need to supervise a bit and watch what the strong workers are doing, because they’re just as prone to mistakes as any other tradespeople—but the time you save by using a professional assembly service is definitely worth the money in the end.

kadi_713819 Oct 2010 09:47Thank you for your response! 🙂
Fortunately, I have a friend who is also helping with the assembly! So I’m not doing it alone, although I’m generally quite skilled at building things! 😀
The full assembly is simply too expensive for us since the price is calculated by square meters, and because we have a fairly large kitchen, that would already be around 600–700 euros. Therefore, we initially wanted to opt for the partial assembly only. We assemble everything ourselves, and then someone comes to connect and align everything. In my opinion, the handles would already be installed by us in this case. That costs "only" 160 euros.
But from what I’ve seen so far, I found the assembly relatively easy. I just don’t know if we feel confident enough to connect the stove and sink ourselves. Is that something that can be done with normal knowledge, or with the help of an electrician?
Thanks and best regards!

kadi_713819 Oct 2010 11:39Ok, thanks for your tips.
We’ll ask our electrician about the stove...
Sink... ok... I’ll take a closer look at those parts. Good point!
We didn’t buy the countertop from IKEA anyway; it was not only really heavy but also really expensive! That’s why we have a friend who’s a carpenter to customize and cut everything for us. So it’s already marked for cutting.
But I’ll think it over again!
Your comments are really solid! 😀

Hello
If you are not completely inexperienced, you can set up the kitchen and also other parts yourself with questions and advice from various professionals. I am currently in the process of assembling our kitchen myself.
However, I invested a lot of time in the planning stage, as I believe most mistakes happen there.
With the new kitchen planner, the design is already quite close to reality, but I still change my plans during assembly (about the 20th to 30th revision), since you keep discovering better solutions.
Exchanging items is not a problem in this regard.
If you are interested, I could upload some pictures.
Best regards,

Photos are always great.
