Hello,

unfortunately, I only find older posts when it comes to the topic of kitchen quality. We are currently in the middle of kitchen planning and I wonder if an IKEA kitchen is still always of lower quality than Nobilia or Nolte. We are considering buying only the carcasses and kitchen fronts from IKEA, with appliances and countertops purchased separately. Can anyone share their experience with this? In our case, this would save about 5-8k euros, which I consider significant, but since the kitchen is expected to last 20-30 years, quality is a major concern.

In older posts, IKEA kitchens did not fare well in terms of quality, so I wanted to find out what the situation is today.

Maybe someone here can share their experience with IKEA kitchens.

Thank you very much

Ok... it’s not worth it for me...
Especially since a proper, functional kitchen needs a combi-steamer and a warming drawer.

Personally, a table and a Thermomix would be enough for me. :p

The Thermomix can’t do anything that my Santoku knife and a stove don’t do better 😉

I’ve really thought about this for a while... but 10,000 EUR for kitchen appliances?
Paid prices:
Berbel extractor hood €3,000
BSH flexible induction cooktop €1,500
Miele XXL dishwasher €1,800
BSH oven + combination oven €3,500
Fridge/freezer combination €1,500
Total €11,300
(The plate warmer is not installed yet – currently there is a small drawer under the combination oven).

Additionally, the textured black granite countertop with flush-mounted cutouts cost €4,500 (fortunately, it’s only 4 meters (13 feet)).

Besides that, some smaller items like the sink and faucet, plus recessed power outlets in the countertop.

The furniture needs to look good and function well. I cook with the appliances – so they need to perform properly.

I know a kitchen expert who has a Privileg stove with a 60cm (24 inch) cooktop and a microwave... and he prepares a 7-course meal in his 12m² (130 sq ft) kitchen for his birthday – it’s impressive!

If you can afford that, great. But you don’t need expensive appliances to be a good home cook...

You’re unfortunately comparing apples and oranges. Kitchen X all-inclusive (which manufacturers exactly?) versus IKEA without X, without Y, and Z, only visually similar.

Melamine resin with wood-look is almost the same visually as real wood.

So, a 32k kitchen should be clearly above IKEA in every aspect, so any comparison is misleading.

Well, I don’t think I’m comparing apples and oranges. My question was specifically regarding the carcasses and fronts.

Specifically, this was Nobilia vs. IKEA with exactly the same appliances as well as countertop, sink, and faucet. Only the carcasses and fronts differ: Nobilia vs. IKEA. Now the question is: are the carcasses and fronts worth an additional 10k?
