Hello everyone,

As we are currently looking into buying a kitchen, we are interested in the fairness of the asking prices. Our experience so far has been that price reductions of 25-50% off the initial prices have sometimes been offered.

To get a better idea of what constitutes a reasonable price for a kitchen, rather than focusing on "how much of a discount can I negotiate," I would like to see a list of your kitchen purchases:

Manufacturer:
Kitchen studio:
Initial price:
Final price:

I hope this discussion will help readers by sharing real experiences, leading to a fair interaction at the kitchen showroom, without either party feeling like they have been taken advantage of.

Best regards,

The amount you are willing to pay.

I have a limit that I do not want to exceed. I’m not looking for the cheapest kitchen on the market, but I want a fair price for the goods/services provided.

I do, though oops:

Go to a professional kitchen showroom. There are no discounts there, but you also won’t pay exorbitant prices.

There are endless threads here about buying kitchens, including prices, etc. Try searching.

This kind of listing says absolutely nothing.

There are plenty of kitchen studios that provide somewhat realistic prices upfront, where the final price may be rounded to the nearest hundred or include a free interior feature during the order phase. Many kitchen suppliers—especially furniture stores, but also kitchen chains—try to attract customers with BIG percentage discounts.

Moreover, an initial price and a final price alone, without specifying the scope of the design (such as appliances, cabinets with their layout, materials of fronts and countertops), only show what was paid and whether the initial offer was unrealistic or not.

Here, for price assessments like "Okay," "negotiate again," or "seems very cheap," we require at least the following details:

Planning photos: preferably a top view and one or two other perspectives
Total price: xxx
– including average online appliance price + shipping: xxx
Manufacturer / series: xxx
Cabinet height: xxx
Front material: xxx
Side panel material: xxx
Countertop material: xxx

Only with this information can a price be roughly evaluated at this basic level.
----------------

If you want to be reasonably certain, you should request more than one quote for the exact same design.

Yes, unfortunately it is often a jungle, but customers are not entirely blameless. They just love discounts...
----------------

IKEA can provide a first reference point, but keep in mind IKEA’s cabinet offerings are limited to four widths. The options for side panels and other design elements are also limited, and delivery is in flat packs.
For the delivery of a standard kitchen, at least the cabinets and drawers come pre-assembled. Many custom solutions offered by standard kitchen manufacturers, such as raised dishwashers or full wall utilization, have to be "DIY modified" with IKEA kitchens.
-----------------------

Generally, the quality of the finished product—the assembled kitchen—is determined approximately 30% by practical, ergonomic, and visually successful planning, 30% by the quality of the installation, and the remainder by the materials used.

We are currently looking at Küchenaktuell – but in Rahlstedt. Also at Möbel Kraft in Buchholz – so we can compare.
Then also visit Möbel Steffens in Lamstedt. That was a recommendation from several acquaintances who were satisfied. We ended up buying our kitchen there as well. They also have a significantly larger selection where you can see items in person compared to, for example, Kraft.

I would also plan the kitchen using the Ikea planner. For the calculation, replace the electrical appliances and sink with decent brand-name products, depending on your requirements. Assembly costs can be easily inquired about or are sometimes available online. Then consider how much a few custom solutions (different cabinet widths, etc.) are worth to you. The quality of the carcasses and fronts at Ikea is by no means worse than at Nobilia and similar brands. If you have higher demands, you will need to choose from the higher price range of kitchen manufacturers.
