Moskito117429 Apr 2015 07:57A morning hello to everyone,
The delivery date for our kitchen is approaching, and I’m quite excited about the installation. I do have a bit of respect for the process...
I’m sure there will be plenty of questions along the way. But right now, there is one question that concerns me the most, as it is crucial for my schedule.
Specifically, how are the METOD kitchen cabinets delivered? Are the carcasses of the base cabinets already pre-assembled? Or do I need to assemble them myself? This is basically no problem, but I would need to allow an extra day for the kitchen installation if I have to assemble them myself...
Thank you in advance for your answers!
Best regards,
Thomas

Typically IKEA-style, EVERYTHING arrives in separate boxes and completely disassembled! Our kitchen consisted of 83 boxes (excluding fronts, countertop, and appliances).
In the evening, with a bottle (or rather more), I assigned each individual package to a cabinet and gave each cabinet a number. Otherwise, you’ll get lost in a sea of cardboard boxes!

Moskito117429 Apr 2015 10:36Oh, we have a total of only 11 cabinets... 2 corner base cabinets, 2 base cabinets 80cm (31½ inches) wide with drawers, 2 base cabinets 60cm (24 inches) wide with drawers, 1 pull-out pantry 20cm (8 inches) wide, 2 corner wall cabinets, 1 wall cabinet 60cm (24 inches) wide, and 1 tall cabinet 140cm (55 inches) high. I hope to complete the kitchen installation in 2, maybe 3 days.
Is that realistic? I’m not a professional carpenter, but I’m not completely inexperienced either...

Hard to say, because we had to do so many other things at the same time. Assembling the cabinet carcasses alone should definitely take just one day. Assembling the drawers and drilling the fronts takes considerably longer.
With the appliances, countertop, and everything else included, three days (IMHO) is tough but possible with a professional craftsman (cabinetmaker). Provided that everything is on site and no unexpected issues arise. (For example, we once had to quickly remove the window sill – 1.5 hours... and so on.)
Do you have a cabinetmaker or similar professional to install the cabinets and countertop?
