Hello dear IKEA fans 🙂

I urgently need your advice 🙁

Since I’m not very skilled technically or with DIY, and I wanted my "dream kitchen" to be planned by experts, I chose the full kitchen planning and installation service. I’m a big fan of country-style kitchen fronts =)

Last week we had the appointment for the full planning. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as I had expected.
Because the power outlets in my kitchen are at the same height as the standard countertops, my kitchen would need to be installed deeper according to the kitchen planner. For this, we would need plinth legs no taller than 5cm (2 inches).
I wasn’t aware that I would have to source the kitchen legs myself, as this was only communicated to me shortly before the planning was finalized. I also have to get the plinth strips myself now. The 5cm (2 inches) plinth legs are supposed to be found at the nearby hardware store…
Unfortunately, it’s not that easy to find plinth legs of this height. This has been very stressful and time-consuming since Thursday, May 6. I even went to IKEA again on Saturday, May 9 to clarify the problem in person, but I felt somewhat brushed off. According to the kitchen specialist, I can’t buy the kitchen from IKEA if I don’t get the matching plinth legs myself. I find the kitchen planning and the kitchen specialist quite confusing and imprecise. Is it common to have to take care of individual parts yourself? Even with full planning? Even if you chose full planning because you want experts to solve technical or craftsmanship-related difficulties for you...

I hope you can help me out
Looking forward to your advice.

Hello,
I would much prefer if an electrician could install the outlets higher. Is a 2.8 cm (1.1 inch) thick countertop planned instead of 3.8 cm (1.5 inches)? Base cabinet feet with 5 cm (2 inches) height won’t adjust any lower than that.

Is it common that you have to handle individual components yourself? Even with a full design plan? Even when you choose the full design option because you want experts to solve technical or craftsmanship-related difficulties...

If the product range doesn’t cover the items you need, unfortunately yes. There are quite a few suppliers who accommodate every "special case," but in such cases the furniture is often custom-made, which is reflected in the price.

Just because there is a full design plan doesn’t mean there has to be a solution for you. However, in my opinion, this important information should have been communicated right from the start.

Hello,
I would definitely prefer if an electrician could install the sockets a bit higher.

Is the countertop planned to be 2.8 cm (1.1 inches) thick instead of 3.8 cm (1.5 inches)?

Toe kicks with 5 cm (2 inches), but they can’t be adjusted any lower than that.

Raising the sockets would really be the best solution... unfortunately, the sockets are installed within the wall tiles, so I believe that could significantly increase the kitchen costs.
I heard from a neighbor that their wall tiles are different, and their sockets are installed higher than the ones in my kitchen. That’s why I contacted my landlord... Maybe something can still be arranged.

But the idea about the countertop is brilliant... We actually planned with a 3.8 cm (1.5 inches) countertop, so I would have an extra 1 cm (0.4 inches) available, then the feet you recommended would definitely fit.

Please provide the exact measurements and upload a photo of the electrical outlets. There might be another possible solution.
