georg-ferdinand11 Apr 2015 16:10Hello,
I am planning to buy an IKEA kitchen (Metod with Bodbyn fronts). It is mostly planned already. At first, I wanted to use a cooktop and oven offered by IKEA. Then I thought about buying a used oven to save some money. Now my question is: Do ovens from other well-known brands (Bosch, Siemens, etc.) generally fit without issues into the METOD base cabinet designed for built-in ovens? Are these appliances standardized, or do I need to watch out for anything in particular?
Here is the built-in base cabinet:

I would appreciate any advice!

These are standard dimensions. You probably have a drawer underneath the oven or a shelf inside the base cabinet where the oven is placed. This was also the case with Faktum.
The same goes for built-in fridge/freezers (for tall cabinets); you can use almost any model (although I’m not sure whether a model with a fixed door or a swing door is better). Cooktops and sinks fit without any issue since they are simply installed into the countertop.
The only appliances that can cause problems are dishwashers (and possibly under-counter fridge/freezers), which need to have very specific dimensions to fit properly into the new, taller base cabinets in Metod.
I have a Faktum kitchen myself (a secondary kitchen in the basement) with non-Ikea appliances (range including oven and cooktop, built-in fridge with swing door, and extractor hood), and everything fit perfectly.
Additionally, I am planning to get a new Metod kitchen, and there I intend to use all Ikea appliances as well.
