Hello, have you already tensioned the dishwasher door spring to its maximum?

andre_at_ikeafans4 Mar 2015 20:53Hi,
yes, I’m also having issues with the unstable adjustment knobs. For now, I’ve removed the front panel because I don’t want the 8.6 kg (19 lbs) to fall on my feet.
I’m now considering, as suggested here in the forum, to completely skip the use of mounting brackets and panels and attach the front directly to the dishwasher. This would mean installing the dishwasher a bit deeper and accepting that the control panel will sit behind the front. My dishwasher is 81.5 cm (32 inches) high.
What do you think?
Regards,
André

IKEA-Experte4 Mar 2015 21:58In a thread recently, someone mentioned that the Stefan method didn’t work with the 81.5 cm (32 inches) high dishwasher.
I haven’t had the Behjälplig in my hands yet. In the diagram from the installation manual, it looks like the part with the adjustment knob has an internal hex screw as the rotation axis of the knob. Can you tighten that so it doesn’t slip down so easily?

Hi,
I just had the same problem with the locking height adjustment on the Behjälplig rail. This happened even with the smaller 45cm (18 inches) Hjälpsam dishwasher and – however – the Grevsta stainless steel front:
In my humble opinion, the height adjustment is really a design flaw: Since the upper (plastic) guide of the adjustment wheel is only on one side – and relatively shallow and directed toward the load – the wheel simply slips under higher load on the suspension.
My solution: Adjust the dishwasher front height using the height adjustment and note how far the locking claws stick out. Slightly relieve the front during this. Then unhook and remove the front, check the adjustment, and drive a 16mm (5/8 inch) Spax screw through the adjustment wheel at a suitable spot. It’s not pretty, but it works.
In my view, replacing the parts doesn’t help because the problem is inherent in the design.
P.S. So far, the front hasn’t come off the hinge during use…

bubbel_599417 Mar 2015 22:56Hello everyone
I had the same issues with my semi-integrated Electrolux XXL dishwasher. I followed "Stefan’s solution." I attached the front directly to the door. WARNING!!!!!! My front panel is split into three parts from bottom to top measuring 40/20/4.5cm (16/8/1.8 inches). The 4.5cm (1.8 inch) filler piece is made from the Hammrap countertop. Since these three parts are connected with IKEA connector rails, tightening the screws can distort the dishwasher’s metal door panel so much that it catches on various parts when opening at the bottom, causing a terrible cracking noise. To fix this, I simply placed four 4mm (0.16 inch) wooden shims directly under the screws. When looking between the front panel and the dishwasher door, the connector rails should not touch the outer metal panel. You can find photos in my gallery.

FlowinBeatz27 Sep 2016 14:12Hello everyone,
I have a very, very similar problem.
A Siemens dishwasher with a new and very heavy METOD front and the flimsy plastic BEHJÄLPLIG solution.
The door has come off the pivot hinges dozens of times already, even though I carefully positioned it on the correct pivot axis (even though this slightly differed from the IKEA instructions).
Now, the plastic bracket of the pivot axis at the bottom has finally broken.
IKEA Germany no longer offers the BEHJÄLPLIG part. What now? Do they finally have a metal replacement available? Or are they no longer supporting third-party appliances at all (which wouldn’t surprise me from IKEA...)
How did you end up solving this?
Thanks in advance!
