Hello everyone, I’m planning to disassemble and rearrange my Ikea Brimnes wardrobe, but I want to make sure that none of the parts get damaged or warped during the process. My question for the experienced users: How can you disassemble the Ikea BRIMNES without causing any damage? Are there any special tools or techniques I should be aware of? I’m especially interested in the best way to remove the back panel, hinges, and the connecting fittings to keep the structure intact. Any tips are much appreciated!

Removing them seems particularly tricky since they hold the door securely. Is there a specific order I should follow? Also, what’s the best way to gently separate the boards without damaging the corners?

Always use a suitable screwdriver (Philips or Pozidriv, depending on the screw), as slipping tools can cause surface damage. When separating the boards, first loosen the connecting fittings, then carefully pull them apart—make sure to pull straight at the edges, avoiding prying.

Also, how can the boards be separated gently without damaging the corners? For removing the hinges: first, take the door off by carefully pressing the retaining clips on the hinge or gently prying them off with a small screwdriver. Then, unscrew the hinges themselves using the appropriate screwdriver. Avoid twisting or levering during this process. Once all connectors are removed, separate the boards by pulling them slowly and straight apart. To prevent damage to the edges, it is recommended to place cardboard strips or soft padding under the furniture to avoid pressure marks.

If you put the screws in small bags and label them, you keep track and avoid stress later.😉I completely agree! Never have to hunt for screws again – I even mark the boards and rooms briefly to prevent mistakes later. A little organization makes things much easier.
