Good morning everyone, I have a problem with an IKEA Metod kitchen cabinet door that has warped. The door no longer hangs properly, sometimes doesn’t close completely, and also looks slightly twisted, as if it’s no longer flat. I suspect it’s a slight bowing, probably caused by moisture or incorrect handling.

I’m interested in hearing about methods you know or have used to repair a warped Metod door. Are there any special tools or tricks to restore the original shape without having to replace the door entirely?

It would also be helpful to know if it’s possible to remove the door and treat it in some way to solve the problem permanently. I’m looking forward to your advice!

Wow, so many helpful posts here! 😊 I completely agree that being careful with moisture is essential, and properly adjusting the hinges is really key.

What I would like to add: When you remove the door and want to reinstall it, take your time with the fine adjustments.

- Check the gap between the door and the frame. It should be even all around.
- You can use a small ruler to see if the door lies flat.

Sometimes shifting the hinge mounting by just a few millimeters (a few tenths of an inch) is enough to make it look perfect again.

Keep at it, you’re doing great!

Good morning everyone!

Thank you very much for the many helpful and well-explained answers! Last night, I tried the tips for adjusting the hinges and I was actually able to improve the door significantly!

The hinge adjustment on my door was indeed not optimal, which caused it to hang slightly crooked and gave me the impression that it was warped.

The next step will definitely be to remove the door and carefully experiment with moisture and pressure, as recommended, to address the slight sagging at the bottom.

If that doesn’t help, I will consider, as @todunar suggests, gently assisting with light levering movements.

I will keep you updated on the progress. Many thanks to everyone for your support!
