Hello everyone, I’m planning to disassemble and rearrange my Ikea Brimnes wardrobe, but I want to make sure that none of the parts get damaged or warped during the process. My question for the experienced users: How can you disassemble the Ikea BRIMNES without causing any damage? Are there any special tools or techniques I should be aware of? I’m especially interested in the best way to remove the back panel, hinges, and the connecting fittings to keep the structure intact. Any tips are much appreciated!

One more thing: Do not lever at a corner on the back wall, as this can easily cause it to tear. Instead, carefully release all the clips one by one.

Additionally, I have a question about the back panels: Are they nailed or stapled? Is it worth using a special tool to remove them, or is a small screwdriver sufficient? I want to avoid the back panel breaking or splintering in case I want to reuse it.

Brimnes back panels are usually attached with fine staples or small nails. A flat, sturdy screwdriver or a small pry bar is sufficient. It is important to work carefully and step by step. A special tool is not strictly necessary, but a thin lever tool with a wide contact surface reduces the risk of cracks and dents.

Remember not to use too much force when unscrewing – many screws are in MDF or particleboard, which can easily cause hinge plates to break off. It’s better to work gradually and loosen them in several attempts.

I always gently score the back panel with an old utility knife, which makes it easier to remove the staples. It takes a bit more effort, but you end up without any cracks.

Great, thanks for the tips on the tools and handling the back panel. I will use small lever tools and carefully release the clips one by one instead of prying. If I have any more questions, I’ll get in touch again!
