Hello dear IKEA fans,
I hope you can help me here, as I haven’t been able to get any assistance from the hotline.
I want to buy a Pax sliding door wardrobe, the model with a height of 236 cm (7 ft 9 in).
According to the assembly instructions, the room should be 240 cm (7 ft 10 in) or taller.
Unfortunately, at the lowest point I only have 238.5 cm (7 ft 10 in) and at the highest just under 240 cm (7 ft 10 in).
The carcass can also be assembled standing up, so in that regard it should be possible. But will the sliding doors still be able to be hung then?? 😕 😕 That’s my big problem!!!!
Thank you very much for your help!

Bruno_486826 Mar 2010 09:03Hello Michael,
Since last night, I finally have the sliding doors, so now nothing should stand in the way of the assembly.
I hope I get to it over the weekend, then I’ll get back in touch.
By the way: yesterday I bought the last white shelves, in the old color, at Ikea Ludwigsburg. The switch is almost complete. We’ve even taken down almost all the old Pax wardrobes already 😀
Best regards, Bruno

Good luck with your construction!
What cabinet width do you have? And which sliding doors? I have two 150cm (59 inches) ones with 75cm (30 inches) sliding doors.
Best regards,
Michael

Hello,
that’s exactly my problem too – the ceiling is too low for the sliding doors and unfortunately also for the cabinets, I mismeasured a bit 🙄
I now want to cut 1cm (0.4 inches) off my 2.36m (7 ft 9 inches) cabinets. The question is whether the sliding doors would then scrape on the floor. I don’t have the sliding doors yet, so I can’t measure them. Can anyone tell me how tall the sliding doors typically are and how much clearance there usually is between the sliding door and the floor?
I was thinking of first installing the brackets for the sliding doors on the track at the top and then attaching the doors afterwards. That should work, right!?
Looking forward to Bruno’s report =D

Hello PAx builders with low ceilings...
I have the same problem (already mentioned a page earlier).
It would be great if Bruno could try out our suggestions or pay attention during assembly to see if it works the way we imagine.
I'm particularly interested to know if it’s possible to slide the door hinge in from the side first and then screw the door onto it.
@ Caro0611
If I remember correctly, you can cut the cabinet down and still have some clearance above the floor.
However, I don’t know how much exactly. This is something I’m considering too—cutting the cabinet down… but I hope there’s another way. I’m not very keen on taking the cabinet to a carpenter just to have it trimmed.
