Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to furnish a new bedroom using the IKEA PAX wardrobe system and would like to use sliding doors to save space. My question is: What IKEA PAX options with sliding doors are currently available?
Specifically, I am interested in different sizes, door types, finishes, and possibly various interior organizers that are compatible with sliding doors. Are there options suitable for smaller rooms that offer certain modular features?
I would appreciate as detailed an overview as possible, including advice on the advantages and disadvantages of the different options.

Can you explain in more detail how the rails work? Do I need to pay attention to specific measurements or are there limitations regarding the PAX cabinet depths? I read that there are 35 cm and 58 cm depths.Sure! For sliding doors, the typical cabinet depth is 58 cm (23 inches) because the rails at the top and bottom of the doors need space for the rollers. The 35 cm (14 inches) depth is generally intended for open or hinged door variants.
The rails are specifically designed for 58 cm (23 inches) deep cabinets and are mounted at the top and bottom of the frame. They support the rollers that allow the doors to slide smoothly.
So if you want sliding doors, always choose the 58 cm (23 inches) deep PAX cabinets; otherwise, it won’t fit properly. Also, the doors need to be exactly matched to the cabinet size, otherwise they might stick out or not close properly.
One more note: The sliding doors available at IKEA are usually 200 cm (79 inches) high, with some models also offered in 236 cm (93 inches). The depth is only 58 cm (23 inches) for sliding doors. You can vary the width with doors of 50 cm (20 inches) or 75 cm (30 inches), depending on the wardrobe width.
Good morning everyone,
I wanted to gather the most common issues with PAX sliding doors:
- Missing or incorrectly installed door stops/bumpers → doors scrape or jump off the track
- Incorrect height measurements, causing doors to scrape the floor or cabinet
- Improper installation of the sliding rails → uneven movement
My tip: Pay close attention to the labeling of each part before installation and follow the instructions step by step.
Who else has experience with installing these doors?
