I am currently planning a new wardrobe for my bedroom and am particularly interested in the Ikea Pax system. Now I am wondering if there are any Ikea Pax wardrobe models that come standard with two sliding doors—basically a model that doesn’t have traditional hinged doors or doors divided into four sections, but explicitly offers only two sliding doors as a feature and design. I want to make sure the wardrobe looks balanced and saves space, as I simply find sliding doors more practical. Are there such models? Or is it only possible to customize this with Pax rather than buying a complete set?

Hello Fulen, your question is very clear and practical. Basically, Ikea’s Pax system offers many combination options that you can plan yourself. The wardrobes are usually delivered with two or more doors, depending on the width. Sliding doors are available for the system, but as far as I know, a ready-made model with exactly two sliding doors is not standard for all widths. However, you can specifically choose sliding doors for 100 or 150 cm (39 or 59 inches) wide Pax wardrobes. This means that with the right planning and selection of suitable sliding door fronts, you can achieve exactly the two-door solution. So it is more of a flexible combination rather than a fixed standard model.

Yes, there are Pax wardrobes with two sliding doors, provided the wardrobe is 100cm (40 inches) or 150cm (60 inches) wide. You need to select this type of door in the Ikea planner.

To clarify the topic a bit: Pax wardrobes are modular, meaning you can select the doors individually. For two sliding doors, Ikea offers sliding door systems in widths of 100 cm (39 inches) and 150 cm (59 inches). This means specifically:

- If your Pax wardrobe is exactly 100 cm (39 inches) wide, you can install two sliding doors at the appropriate height.
- For 150 cm (59 inches) width, there is also the option to install two high-quality sliding doors that operate smoothly.

Common planning mistakes often occur when trying to combine multiple wardrobe modules, resulting in a width that does not exactly match 100 or 150 cm (39 or 59 inches). In such cases, the sliding door system will no longer function optimally. Therefore, my advice is to plan your Pax as a 100 or 150 cm (39 or 59 inches) unit if you want two sliding doors.

In conclusion: Ikea does not necessarily sell a complete model with two sliding doors in the classic sense; instead, you configure it yourself accordingly.

Thanks in advance for the helpful explanations!

This sounds as if there are wardrobes that come only with sliding doors? That would be perfect.
I am also interested in details about the height, as I planned for 236 cm (93 inches) height – some doors seem not to fit that. More importantly: Are there any limitations regarding the interior fittings of sliding-door Pax wardrobes? For example, does the interior layout with clothes rails, drawers, and so on fit just as well as with hinged-door Pax wardrobes?

If anyone has specific experience with the combination of “two sliding doors + large height,” I would be very grateful for any insights.

Exactly, Ikea offers different heights for Pax, including 201, 236, and 236.8 cm (79, 93, and 93.5 inches, depending on the series). As far as I remember, the sliding doors are available for the 236 cm (93 inches) height and fit perfectly.

I have a Pax at home with two sliding doors (150 cm wide, 236 cm high [59 x 93 inches]) and I find them fantastic because they are very easy to operate and save a lot of space.

Regarding the interior fittings, the system is exactly the same—you can use everything (clothes rails, shelves, drawers) since the sliding doors are basically just screwed on the front, and the interior has no disadvantages.

Good luck with your planning!
