BENBEHello everyone, I have a problem with the sliding doors on my Ikea Pax wardrobe: they no longer slide smoothly and can be quite difficult to move. The doors stick or move unevenly, which is especially noticeable with the larger doors. I have already tried cleaning the tracks, but it didnât help much. Does anyone have tips on how to make the sliding doors run more smoothly again? What are common causes and the best ways to fix them? I look forward to your experiences and suggestions!

It could also be due to the rollers being misaligned or not properly adjusted. For Ikea Pax wardrobes, there are adjustment screws on the doors that allow you to change the doorâs position within the track. This alters the pressure on the rollers and often significantly improves how smoothly they move. Make sure that the doors are not overloaded, as this can also worsen the problem.

The Ikea Pax system has adjustment screws on the doors that allow you to change the position of the door within the track. Thanks for the tip, I didnât even know that the rollers could be adjusted. Could you briefly explain how to locate these adjustment screws and what tools are needed? Do I have to remove the doors completely, or can this be done while they are still installed?
Here is a brief guide on adjusting the Pax sliding doors:
- Usually, it is not necessary to completely remove the doors, but carefully tilt them forward to access the bottom edge.
- At the bottom of the door, you will find small adjustment wheels or screws, typically with a Phillips or Allen head.
- Using a suitable screwdriver or Allen key, you can adjust the height and sometimes the angle of the door.
- It is important to position the door so that it runs precisely in the track without putting pressure on the top rail.
- Avoid over-tightening the screws, as this can cause the door to stick or damage the rollers.
Regular cleaning of the tracks and removing lint also improves the doorâs sliding performance.

You should also check if the rollers still move smoothly. On some models, the rollers can be replaced without removing the entire door. If they are worn or damaged, replacing them makes sense. Additionally, I recommend applying a small amount of silicone spray to the tracks during cleaning. This improves sliding performance and protects against wear.
