Hey,

we have an issue with our built-in Bosch refrigerator.

It fits perfectly into the Faktum tall cabinet, but because of the flat hinge design, I can only open the freezer compartment at the bottom if the refrigerator door at the top is open. This is because the flat hinge, which is located above the freezer compartment, is no longer covered by the 70cm (28 inch) Faktum door of the freezer compartment. As a result, the Faktum door at the bottom would be damaged if the freezer is opened while the refrigerator remains closed.

Is it possible to install different hinges on the Bosch refrigerator? There are no other door sizes available (the door for the freezer would need to be 73–74cm (29–29 inches) tall – which is not a standard size).

What other options are there? Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Kind regards

I’ll write down everything that comes to mind about this. None of it is really ideal.

1. Shortening a larger door to the right size for the bottom is not possible with LINDINGÖ.
2. I don’t think there are other hinges available; Bosch customer service can answer that question better.
3. Raise the upper door slightly. There will still be a wide gap and an overhang at the top.
4. Lower the whole unit. The bottom panel of the cabinet sits between the side panels. Replace it with a 3.6 cm (1.4 inch) wider board on which the side panels are mounted. Actually, the dimensions probably won’t allow that.
5. Use the 233 cm (92 inch) tall built-in cabinet (217 cm (85 inch) carcass) with a 92 cm (36 inch) door on the bottom and a 125 cm (49 inch) door on top. If 70 cm (28 inch) wall cabinets are installed next to it, there won’t be a consistent alignment.

Maybe someone else has a better idea.

Wow, IKEA expert, you’re a pro!

I’m out of ideas too. Although, you could build the base cabinet yourself and install a kickplate in front, enclose the fridge using, for example, countertops. Connect a 70cm (27.5 inches) door and a 9.4cm (3.7 inches) oven panel with a flat iron, attach the upper door, and done. Not pretty, but not complicated. Or wait for Metod, since they will have 80cm (31.5 inches) fronts. 😎

Best regards

I lowered my tall cabinet to fit the refrigerator inside.
It was quite simple. However, I installed the tall 21cm (8 inches) legs throughout the kitchen, and under the tall cabinet, I used only boards as a base. The cabinet front slightly extends above the cabinet at the top because I didn’t want to trim the front for aesthetic reasons.

A bit of finesse and some woodworking skills should make this work...
