rennschnecke27 Mar 2021 19:21Hello,
a Nobilia kitchen (Line N, handleless) has been planned with approximate dimensions of 290x345cm (115x136 inches). Unfortunately, an island does not fit in the space, as there also needs to be room for a dining table.
This is a condominium in a two-family house. It is possible that we will build or buy a house in 5–10 years and then rent out the apartment with the kitchen. For this reason, we have tried to plan the kitchen as cost-effectively as possible.
Base cabinets:
1x 50cm (20 inch) door with a small drawer
60cm (24 inch) stove
60cm (24 inch) dishwasher
65cm (26 inch) corner cabinet (blind)
3x 90cm (35 inch) drawers (50cm (20 inch) deep, as the slant creates a recess allowing a front with 3x90cm (35 inch) to be formed)
Wall cabinets:
1x 50cm (20 inch) with door
1x 60cm (24 inch) extractor hood (Elica, visually “disappears”)
3x 60cm (24 inch) with doors
Material for fronts and countertop: white concrete
3 LED spotlights
Black sink plus mixer tap
One of the drawers in the 90cm (35 inch) cabinets has another type of drawer integrated that can be separated at the push of a button. Difficult to explain.
The appliances are currently from Junker (stove, oven, and dishwasher). The dishwasher runs at 48dB. In a competitor's brochure we saw today, there was a Samsung dishwasher at 44dB for the same final price. We will need to discuss this again with the consultant. Reportedly, Junker is good quality and competitively priced compared to the usual brands (Neff, Samsung, Bosch, AEG, etc.). Possibly, an oven with a black front will be installed instead of stainless steel. The refrigerator is planned separately.
According to the consultant, the Line N does not have a drawer under the oven. We thought we saw one at an exhibition. Does anyone know? Unfortunately, there is no detailed product overview for the Line N available online.
The price including installation and appliances is 5700 euros, or 5900 euros if glass inserts are installed on the side panels of the drawers. For comparison: instead of 3x 90cm (35 inch) drawers, 3x 90cm (35 inch) cabinets with 6x 45cm (18 inch) doors would cost 5100 euros. However, we prefer the drawers.
What do you think of the price? Are there manufacturers with comparable quality at a lower price?
Best regards
PS: The color does not come out quite as nicely in the photo/printout.

Initially, nobilia produces mid-range kitchens of good quality, which is why they are often used commercially, in vacation rentals, medical practices, and offices. The furniture isn’t trendy, but it’s reliable. Comparable to IKEA Metod, including in price.
Your price reflects this as well. It’s affordable and far from high-end. For comparison, feel free to open the IKEA kitchen planner and design a similar kitchen there, then see what the total cost comes to. Keep in mind, with IKEA, delivery and installation are extra.
As for the appliances, well, a cooktop is a cooktop, an oven is an oven—you could even go with Gorenje; there’s no rocket science involved. Regarding the dishwasher, I’d say this: we’ve owned Siemens dishwashers twice in our lives, and each lasted about fifteen years. That’s great, but comes with the downside that eventually you have an outdated device that simply won’t break. Our current one is from IKEA’s own brand, which is supposedly backed by Electrolux—I’m not sure, but the thing has been washing thoroughly and quietly for four years now. So, what I’m trying to say is that you shouldn’t overvalue the appliance brand; they all do what they’re supposed to do. Karsten

knalltüte27 Mar 2021 20:41When the dishwasher is installed in a (small) kitchen-living area, the noise level (dB rating) becomes an important factor. Not everyone has the option to run the appliance only when they are away… That’s why I would place value on this aspect.
I currently have a well-maintained kitchen from Nobilia that is about 10 years old (originally around 8,000 euros new). It has handled two moves including modifications without any issues, and I’m still satisfied with it. By the way, it contains a very quiet and still well-functioning Siemens dishwasher. In contrast, there is a similarly aged but very expensive Neff dishwasher owned by my brother, installed in our new Ikea office kitchen (so he could get a new one for himself ;-) ). Its touch “buttons” often don’t work properly (usually the “Start” button!), and it makes an extremely loud buzzing noise, so it definitely can only be run when no one is home. It is clearly audible even through an F90 (fire-rated) door :-(

Myrna_Loy27 Mar 2021 20:50I would only install a black sink if the water is very, very soft.
That’s a good point about buttons. No touchscreens or anything like that—button is button, nothing that isn’t there can break, and everything that looks high-tech is also prone to problems. We say here, in old connection with the British, who are partly Anglo-Saxons from Sussex and Jutes from Jutland, keep it simple, rugged, reliable. Simple, sturdy, dependable.
This isn’t for people from Swabia, but still, you’re more likely to have reliable use with a cheap Fiesta than with a high-tech Daimler. That’s just how it is.
