Hello everyone,
things are moving forward for us now. After visiting quite a few kitchen outlets in the past, we finally decided on IKEA. Mainly because it’s affordable – secondly, because the kitchen salespeople were almost driving me crazy in the end (a $1000 discount because the sun is shining…). IKEA doesn’t offer any consultation at all… not great either, but still better than that.
We were somewhat fixed on the layout because of the windows… now we are even more set because of the utility connections… The screed is already in place.
The cabinet fronts are Hyttan and Bodbyn – we will buy the appliances separately.
We thought the waste bin should be a pull-out unit under the sink.
A quick note about the tall cabinet row (since it’s not that visible) on the left side of the plan:
60cm (24 inches) cabinet, oven, 60cm (24 inches) cabinet, refrigerator, small freezer.
We would love to hear your opinion. Are there any things we absolutely should change? Since neither of us really has a sense for design, we would appreciate any tips or comments on that as well.
Thanks and best regards

I visited a furniture store again today and was pleasantly surprised.
The showroom featured Pico (?), Nobilia, Nolte, and a brand with "Express" in the name. I liked Nolte the best (rubber lips on the carcass and generally a few nice details).
When I asked about the price difference between Nolte and Nobilia, the kitchen salesperson said it always depends, but generally, Nobilia might be somewhat cheaper.
I asked him to create a design, and we ended up with a layout almost identical to the latest plan here—which was quite funny. The appliances were upper mid-range: A+++ rating fridge freezer combo from Siemens, A+ -10% oven also from Siemens, A++ dishwasher without zeolite, a standard range hood, and a ceramic cooktop.
The fixed price for the Nolte kitchen with a smooth matte lacquer front was 10,600 € (euros) – countertop was some kind of Savanna style (melamine resin-coated) – although I got the impression that the discounts would probably be limited. With a country-style matte lacquer front, it would cost about 1,000 € (euros) more, he said.
He plans to create the same design with Nobilia and find out if it would be cheaper.

Ikea would also be feasible. The drawers and hinges seem better at Nolte (although I haven’t been to Ikea in a while). Nolte drawers have side panels, while Ikea drawers have rods. The cabinet carcass is colored and has a rubber sealing lip; at Ikea, it is white.
Now, the €4500 Ikea price stands against €7600 for Nolte (I tried to exclude the appliances) – if I subtract another €1000 for installation, the Nolte kitchen is actually €2000 more expensive, which is about 30% – quite a difference.
To make matters worse, my wife has now said that she doesn’t like the planned blue color.
I can already see we’ll be moving in without a kitchen.

I find it exciting to follow your posts.
During our kitchen purchase, there was only a brief discussion regarding the lighting.
I am curious to see what decisions you will make.

Today, I had the whole Windsor Front planned again over the phone:
And, for comparison, the smooth blue one again:
My wife didn’t like the blue one at all and wanted the whole thing in brown instead. The total price is now €11,000. I was considering maybe negotiating a bit to get better appliances for the same price. Has anyone ever tried something like that?
