ᐅ How to modify a floor plan?

Hello everyone,

I already posted a floor plan in the building costs forum.
There was a comment that the children's rooms are too small.
Yesterday, I visited a show home for a quote and took a look at the rooms there.

I have to admit, I was a bit shocked by the size of the children's rooms, which were about 11 sqm (118 sq ft). So, hardly smaller than what we have planned. It’s hard to imagine the room size just from the paper.

Do you have any ideas on how to enlarge the three children's rooms on the upper floor without completely changing the entire floor plan?

Or if you have any other criticism or suggestions for improvement, feel free to share.

Best regards,
Steffen

Well, the original poster still needs to be more open-minded, that’s true. But it does sting a bit when 800,000 isn’t considered optimal.
On the other hand, it’s not a complete failure. You can live quite well like that. Just so-so though.

I wouldn’t say that I’m not open to suggestions. But I do have to make sure that all parties are satisfied.

If someone now comes up with a straight staircase and the rest fits or is better than the current plan, why wouldn’t I want that?

Yes, quite a lot of cooks spoiling the broth.
Your wife’s wishes are – sorry to be so frank – somewhat petty in places. Speaking as a woman, I think it’s fair to say that. A utility room doesn’t belong in the bathroom, especially not for 800,000 (currency). The huge walk-in closet with three 3.5m (11.5 ft) wardrobes – how many clothes are supposed to fit in there?
Well, okay, I’m certainly not the type to criticize other people’s special requests. It just doesn’t exactly make the planning any easier.

Your wife’s wishes are—sorry for being blunt—somewhat particular. Speaking as a woman, I think I can say that. A utility room doesn’t belong in the bathroom, especially not for $800,000. That huge walk-in closet with three sections of 3.5m (11.5 ft) each—how many clothes do you really need to store?
Well, okay, I’m definitely not the type to criticize others’ special requests. It just doesn’t make planning any easier.

Hehe, well, we’ll definitely fill those closets, no problem.
Although I recently cleared out three bags full.
Honestly, I don’t think that’s particularly much compared to other households.

Almost half of the $800k goes for the land.
So, you can’t expect too much from the house itself.

Well, I think that’s a lot. Over 10 meters (33 feet) of cabinet space! That’s quite something.

Well, 800 remains 800. Let me put it another way: if you live in such an exclusive location/city, you should not lack a certain style. To me, 10 meters (33 feet) of cabinets seems—let’s be frank—greedy to the point of childish. But if it’s needed, so be it.

At the moment, we have a 2m (6.5 feet) wardrobe and will soon be buying a second one...
