Hello everyone, I am currently planning the installation of my new Ikea Metod kitchen and have some concerns, especially regarding common assembly mistakes. My specific question is: based on your experience with Ikea Metod furniture, what assembly errors occur most frequently, and what advice do you have to specifically avoid these mistakes? I am interested not only in what can go wrong during assembly but also in how to prevent typical issues with alignment, stability, or the installation of cabinets and fronts from the start. Thank you very much for your expertise!
I wanted to add that many people feel pressured for time during the Metod assembly, which can lead to small mistakes that cause problems later on. My advice is to take breaks and rather proceed carefully step by step. I’ve especially noticed that the fronts are sometimes installed too early, before the cabinets are properly leveled – this results in doors that hang unevenly. Therefore, it’s better to double-check everything before attaching the fronts. I have made this mistake myself, and it was quite frustrating later.
Hello dear community! 😊 Personally, it helped me to take the small Ikea Metod assembly “pitfalls” with a sense of humor – yes, they happen, but it’s not the end of the world. One point I often forget: properly aligning the small plastic dowels, which makes screwing in the corner connectors much easier later on. And: be sure to sweep or vacuum the floor thoroughly before starting assembly! This helps prevent a shifted component from changing its angle due to a dirty surface. When putting everything together, it’s a good idea to play a suitable playlist – it might sound silly, but motivation really makes a difference! 😉 Wishing you all the best!
