Hello everyone, I have a question about the proper cleaning of specific areas on Ikea Metod fronts that have visible dirt buildup or stains, such as dried-on stickiness. I am mainly interested in which cleaning methods and products have proven effective for removing these stubborn residues without damaging the fronts. It would also be helpful to know if there are any cleaning agents to avoid and if you have tips for treating difficult edges or corners. Thanks in advance for your experiences and recommendations!

Hey, I think a little patience goes a long way! 😊 I usually do it like this: first warm water with some dish soap, then a soft sponge, and for really tough spots, sometimes a gentle brush around the edges. The important thing is not to scrub too hard – the surfaces are delicate. After that, wipe it dry quickly to avoid water spots. This way everything stays clean and shiny!

When removing Stolke from Ikea Metod fronts, it is important to avoid using harsh or abrasive cleaners, as the fronts are often covered with a film or coating.

Thanks for pointing out the risks! Would you recommend applying the cleaning agents only with a cloth and not spraying them, to prevent moisture damage at the edges? Also, how does this vary with different front materials of Metod – are there differences in how susceptible they are to cleaning damage?

Yes, that is exactly a very good approach! Spraying often causes cleaning liquid to run into the edges or joints, which can lead to swelling or warping of the fronts. That’s why I recommend applying cleaning products only to the cloth and not directly onto the fronts.

Yes, definitely. High-gloss lacquered fronts are somewhat more sensitive to solvents, while foil-covered fronts tend to show scratches more easily. Therefore, always test first! If you have solid wood fronts, they should be treated differently – more with wood care products and less with water.

I clean my Metod fronts with a mild all-purpose cleaner applied to a damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, a fine plastic scraper, like a nail cleaner, can help gently scrape off stains.

I would recommend the following: warm water with a little dish soap, a soft cloth, and for very stubborn dirt, use isopropanol. Never use abrasive cleaners or stiff brushes – these will damage the surface.
