Hello everyone,
I recently purchased furniture from the Hemnes series by Ikea and am now looking for the best care products to properly maintain and protect the wood surfaces. The surfaces are partly lacquered but have a more natural feel rather than a high-gloss finish. I am especially interested in which cleaning agents or care products (e.g., oil, wax, specialized wood care products) you would recommend for this type of wood surface.
It is important to me that the products are not too harsh and do not alter or discolor the surface. Who has experience caring for Hemnes furniture and can share tips on suitable products or even home remedies? Are there any specific methods or maintenance intervals that have proven effective?
Thank you in advance for your helpful advice!

I wonder if the factory finish on Ikea Hemnes furniture is already good enough, so that care products are not really necessary. The factory finish certainly protects the wood, but the surface still benefits from occasional maintenance, as even finishes can be affected over time by environmental factors, dust, and use.
A damp cloth is enough for cleaning, but applying a light treatment with a suitable care oil or wax every few months helps keep the surface more resistant and prevents the wood from drying out.
So it’s not essential, but definitely recommended to preserve the appearance and functionality in the long term.
