LOFE10Is there a specific care product for the surfaces of the IKEA Brimnes furniture series?
I plan to maintain my new Brimnes cabinets over the long term and would like to use a product that does not damage or discolor the surface.
The surfaces are made of coated MDF panels, but I have not found clear information on whether their care differs from that of traditional wood or laminate furniture.
I would like to know if IKEA itself or anyone in the community can recommend a specific product that is best suited for cleaning and protecting Brimnes surfaces without causing damage.
Perhaps there are also care tips on what should definitely not be used on Brimnes. Thanks in advance.

The surfaces of the IKEA Brimnes are indeed coated with melamine, which is durable and relatively resistant to moisture. However, they are sensitive to harsh cleaners or abrasive products that could damage the protective layer.
There is no official special care product from IKEA for Brimnes. The best results are achieved with:
- Neutral, pH-balanced cleaning agents or mild soap solutions
- Soft microfiber cloths or cotton cloths, no abrasive sponges
- No solvents, no ammonia-based cleaners
For protection, I recommend using a specialized furniture wax or care film only if it is suitable for melamine. Always test first in an inconspicuous area.
I am curious: What are your usage conditions? Are there children or pets that might cause stronger stains? That could influence the care recommendations.

I’m actually looking for a product that goes beyond basic cleaning and not only cleans the surface but also protects it from wear and tear. At IKEA, I only find general cleaning instructions but no care products specifically for Brimnes.
Maybe someone here knows a suitable care wax or sealant that can be used without worries.

Important: avoid waxes or oils, as they tend to attract dust or may cause stains.
