Billy_Fan25 Mar 2009 09:33Hello everyone,
I’d like to get your opinion. My shared apartment urgently needs a new shelf for the kitchen—otherwise, someone might actually get hurt one day when pots fall out of the overcrowded cabinets every time the door is opened.
But we have a small decision problem. So far, my flatmates have only said things like, “Yeah, a shelf… well, something with shelves would be nice.” Yep. OK. So I’ve decided to just buy one myself and take it with me when I move out later.
The problem is, I’m just as indecisive as my flatmates.
The options are:
Laxvik: I find it very stylish, but I’m unsure how quickly it might get scratched since it has glass shelves.
Lerberg: I already have this one as a bookcase, but I’m undecided if it’s really suitable for the kitchen.
Albert: hmm – classic – simple – wood
OK – which one would you choose for your (student) kitchen?

Billy_Fan25 Mar 2009 16:45So the contents of the shelf will probably be a mixed collection of food items and dishes – maybe also a potted plant.
Our kitchen actually has gray fronts, partly with frosted glass. There is also a small dark brown cabinet that someone once talked their grandmother into giving away, and a black table with many different chairs. And then there are two sky-blue walls… something like that. Oh yes – it’s a kind of basement kitchen: it’s a cellar apartment, and we don’t have a proper window in the room, just a sort of skylight.
I hope that gave you a somewhat visual idea…

malm-bett-schläfer26 Mar 2009 09:23So I found my shelf under the fours again 😀
I recently integrated the good ALBERT into my kitchen and I’m really satisfied! I put pots and pans on the bottom shelf and the higher the shelf, the lighter the items 🙂 The unit is really sturdy. I can only recommend it to you.
I used the top shelf to add a bit of green to my otherwise very simply colored kitchen, and plants look really nice up there 😀

Hi,
I also really like Albert in a wooden kitchen, but not so much with "gray fronts, sometimes also frosted glass."
In that case, I would recommend Lerberg to you. With Laxvik, you have a lot of difficult work, and whatever remains is more for a garage, right?
Have fun with Lerberg, very practical with the different sizes.
You can always add more, etc.
Cheers,
alex

Billy_Fan27 Mar 2009 15:27Thanks for your suggestions – let’s see if I can make it to my trusted Ikea store this weekend. If so, I’ll probably have some new stories for you on the topic: Taking the bus with Ikea – for you… or maybe I’ll just steal a car…
