Hello everyone,

What ceiling height do you consider practical? Right now, it is planned at 2.45 meters (8 feet). Would you go higher, or do you think this height is fine?

Maybe it can still be adjusted.

Thanks and regards

And in the end, you probably won’t even notice those extra 10cm (4 inches)...

3.10m (10 feet 2 inches) is quite a statement, and you’ll definitely see the difference. But whether it’s 2.60m, 2.70m, or 2.80m (8 feet 6 inches, 8 feet 10 inches, or 9 feet 2 inches), you probably won’t really notice afterward.

For me, that height would also be too much—also because of painting .

What I find more important with high ceilings is to plan the door openings accordingly taller—that otherwise looks pretty awkward...

Sebastian, you have a similar ceiling height to ours on the ground floor. How did you plan your door openings?

A bit taller, considering the finished floor level you have now. But these are 2.32 m (7 ft 7.5 in) doors.

You can notice a 20cm (8 inch) difference—I saw that after the screed was done.

However, we only have 2.42m (7 ft 11 in) up to the ceiling joists, with a 22cm (9 inch) joist height. This was a compromise to allow for a higher knee wall in the upper floor because of the eaves height restriction.

Hello,

we are planning a finished ceiling height of 2.70m (8 ft 10 in) on the ground floor. Do you know what height we should plan for the doors?

Best regards,
Sabine

At least 2.10m (6 ft 11 in). That is still a fairly standard size and the additional cost is reasonable. From what I’ve heard, anything taller is significantly more expensive, but someone else can probably provide more details.

By the way, with our 2.42m (7 ft 11 in) ceiling height, we also have 2.10m (6 ft 11 in) doors.
