Hello everyone,

Following advice from our architect, we have started considering our kitchen layout, since we still have the option to move walls, windows, or doors if it helps optimize the kitchen.

Attached is a first draft of the kitchen plan, which I have roughly sketched. You will also find pictures showing the approximate style and cabinet fronts we are aiming for. According to the seller, the price will be around €13,500. Some additional information is included in the image. If you need any more details, please feel free to ask.

What do you think about the Nolte Manhattan kitchen in general? How do you find the overall layout? Does the offer seem reasonable to you? Do you have any suggestions for improvements?

Thank you very much and best regards

Feel free to share an update or a picture of the plans. I’d be interested to see what it has become.

Ultimately, the layout remained the original plan, with only the following changes:
Corner carousel and towel holder removed
Large continuous Liebherr refrigerator instead of freezer combination
Quieter dishwasher
Siemens oven with self-cleaning and Siemens induction cooktop with downdraft extractor
Only one "standard" door without a pull-out in the row

Feel free to ask if you have any questions

Looks stylish. 🙂
I prefer the more traditional styles; ours will also be classic rather than modern.
I wouldn’t choose a kitchen with so many doors anymore; I think we have only pull-outs. But that also drives the price up considerably. I believe 13,900 for a Nolte kitchen is definitely reasonable here. You have Siemens appliances, not Ikea ones, and professionals are installing it for you.

The changes sound very reasonable. Have fun with them. I think you can be very satisfied with the result, which was the main goal of the original post.

Yes, pull-out drawers are definitely great. What I’ve noticed is that in HGTV shows, kitchens often look incredibly sleek and stylish with their surfaces, countertops, and appliances, but rarely have pull-out drawers. Instead, all the base cabinets usually have swing doors, with at most one top drawer. And you can survive that too. You might even be able to fit more inside, but accessing it won’t be as easy (or convenient).

That’s really true. Right now, we have a kitchen with lots of swing doors in our temporary apartment. It was supposed to be as cheap as possible, just for that one year. My goodness, it’s so annoying—we’re literally counting the days until it’s over.
We also have the “worst of both worlds” because these are 1980s cabinets with one drawer and two doors. You can store a lot in a small space, but getting to the stuff at the back of the cabinet is really difficult. Since there’s the drawer above, you have to bend over awkwardly to reach inside. Emptying the dishwasher is a real hassle.
When I was heavily pregnant and wanted to help out a bit, I often emptied the dishwasher (so I could reload it), and I just put all the clean plates and Tupperware on the countertop for my husband. Honestly, I couldn’t reach them anymore. 😀
