ᐅ Installing an Ikea Maximera Drawer into a Different Brand Kitchen Cabinet

Hi,
after realizing that our drawers don’t have inner drawers and the kitchen studio is quite slow when it comes to ordering just a small replacement part, I’m asking you:
- Has anyone ever installed a branded kitchen drawer like Nolte, Alno, or similar, with Maximera drawers? Unfortunately, Ikea doesn’t offer 90cm (35 inch) drawers, but I could upgrade our 60cm (24 inch) drawer. The internal dimension is 57cm (22.4 inch). According to the specs, the Maximera drawer is 65.4cm (25.7 inch) … so that’s about 6mm (0.24 inch) too large. I guess spacer strips could work, right?
- Plan B would be to order an original Nolte drawer from a kitchen studio that also sells online. However, they specify versions "before 2016" and "after 2016." Our kitchen is from 2013 … Who would measure the internal dimension of a new Nolte kitchen’s 60cm (24 inch) drawer for me?
- Plan C … this one is a bit crazy: has anyone tried fitting an 80cm (32 inch) Maximera drawer into a 90cm (35 inch) cabinet? Anyway, I’d be interested in any idea.

There are several online stores that sell drawer slides and drawers from well-known brands. For example, Lignoshop or Küchen Geisler. You can find decent prices there. Even if I repeat myself: in 2016, there was a change in production. Geisler only offers products from 2016 onward. My kitchen was made earlier. It dates back to 2013.
But thanks for the tip about Lignoshop.
So! It’s done!
Since Küchen Geisler is quite unclear in their presentation and does not provide important details like measurements for consumers, I ordered a sample drawer from Ligno.
For just over €50 (about $55), I ordered a 30cm (12 inches) drawer plus rails, unfortunately not in silver gray as that was sold out.
It arrived within 4 working days, and today I installed it.
My husband was kind enough to hand me a cordless drill. (That said: when it comes to measuring, I prefer to do it myself calmly and carefully – unfortunately, I couldn’t find my hand tools later, like the screwdriver… ever since we got a caravan, everything is stored somewhere else 😀)
The result looks great:
... the next drawer for my spices in a 60cm (24 inches) cabinet is ordered :p

So... after 10 days the 60 cm (24 inches) drawer finally arrived and I quickly installed it myself.
I took a bit of a risk: it said to choose a depth 3 cm (1 inch) smaller than the cabinet depth. Since my cabinet depth is 52 cm (20.5 inches), I went with a 45 cm (18 inches) depth for the first drawer.
Now, for the 60 cm (24 inches) width, I ordered a 50 cm (20 inches) length. I didn’t see any measurable obstacles, but I was still a bit nervous when unpacking it. However, everything fits perfectly.
Now I finally have a bit more organization with my spices 😀
In the pictures, you can clearly see the difference in length, and of course, I installed the longer one more towards the front.

Since we got a new refrigerator, I took the opportunity to buy a Metod kitchen cabinet from Ikea and equipped it with Maximera drawers and VOXTORP doors (the same design as our Nolte) to extend our kitchen by 40cm (16 inches). Luckily, our L-shaped kitchen was not boxed in on either side, so we were able to extend it 😉
I’m thinking about where to post my short comparison review of Nolte vs. Metod here in the forum...
