Good morning everyone,

I am planning to install an Ikea PAX wardrobe system in my bedroom. However, the floor there is not completely level; there is a slight slope of about 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) over a length of approximately 2 meters (6.6 feet).

My question is: to what extent can the Ikea PAX system be adapted to uneven floors without compromising stability or functionality? Are there practical tips or proven solutions to compensate for irregularities, such as adjustable feet, shims, or similar methods?

It would be helpful if anyone has experience or recommendations regarding the adaptability of the PAX system to sloped or uneven floor surfaces, especially whether the frames or sliding doors are affected.

Thanks in advance!

Sliding doors can be precisely aligned using the original adjustment screws at the top and bottom. Materials used for floor leveling should be firm and stable; avoid using soft materials. For unevenness greater than 1 cm (0.4 inches), it is better to use stable wooden shims or wedges. Load capacity is not reduced as long as the structure is properly leveled.

Hey Alexande54,

I recently assembled a Pax wardrobe on a slightly uneven laminate floor. Here’s a quick tip: first, roughly position the wardrobe where you want it, then use a spirit level to check for unevenness.

Next, adjust the wardrobe’s adjustable feet until it stands as level as possible. I also placed thin plastic pads under the feet to prevent slipping and allow for very fine height adjustment.

Also, always fasten the wardrobes to the wall at the end – this prevents any wobbling and makes the whole setup really stable. The PAX system is quite forgiving as long as you’re not too rough with it.

Are there any special techniques or products suitable for adjusting sliding doors if the floor remains uneven despite all efforts?

For fine-tuning sliding doors, it is best to use the adjustable screws integrated into the top and bottom track profiles. These allow precise height and lateral adjustments.

For leveling the floor, rigid materials such as multiplex plywood or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheets, which can be cut to size, are recommended. Soft materials like felt or rubber provide cushioning but are not suitable when load-bearing capacity and long-term stability are required.
