Hello everyone,

I recently assembled an IKEA kitchen myself but still have the following unresolved issue:

I wasn’t able to fully integrate my Skinande dishwasher into the Metod kitchen. When I assembled the machine according to the instructions, there was always a gap between the top of the dishwasher and the edge of the cabinet panel.
So, in the end, I manually screwed the rail differently onto the panel so that the edge now fits perfectly. However, the panel falls out of the rail when I fully open the door.

Since I’m running out of ideas, I wanted to ask if anyone knows the correct way to install this dishwasher: Is it maybe actually correct for there to be a gap between the top of the machine and the upper edge of the panel? (Which would also mean that the countertop does not rest on the dishwasher.) If that’s the case: Should I place rigid foam, wood, or something else between them to support my countertop? I bought a solid stone countertop separately, which is quite heavy and definitely needs to be supported on the surface of the dishwasher.

I would really appreciate your help.

Best regards,
Jonas

Hello,
the dishwasher never supports the countertop. If the appliance is positioned at the end of a run, a support panel must be installed next to the dishwasher.
Did you purchase SKINANDE recently?

I bought the machine about 3 weeks ago. So, is the gap between the top of the machine and the end of the casing intentional?

How large should this gap be, and can I fill it with rigid polystyrene foam so that the panel still rests properly? Installing a support wall would be quite an effort since I can only attach it to the wall behind (and not to the floor), and I don’t expect the wall to support the entire weight of the panel. I will try to add some pictures later.

A separate support panel is required.
Did you attach the top crossbar? Instructions p. 7, step 3:
