Hello!

Is it just me, or am I missing something here?

The new Besta hinge now only comes with two soft-closing hinges, including the pressure mechanism.

That seems pointless or just a way to make more money.

If I install the door without a handle using the "pressure part," I don’t need a soft-close mechanism on the hinge. The door can’t close by itself—I have to push it closed.

But if I install a door with a handle, then the soft-close mechanism makes sense. Yet, in that case, I end up with dozens of pressure parts that I don’t need!

This just doesn’t make sense to me.

I even wanted to combine other hinges from IKEA, but that doesn’t work either (different grub screw...).

It’s basically a “hinge for everyone.” It works for those who want to open the door normally and also for those who want to use the push-to-open mechanism.

I had the same “problem” a few weeks ago. According to an IKEA employee, many customers complain that they end up paying for this push-to-open mechanism even though they don’t want it and just need a regular hinge. But this combined solution is the only option available now.

You don’t necessarily have to use hinges from IKEA. There is a thread here with alternatives. It must be about 4 years old.

.... I also had the idea of using alternative hinges.

I ordered something from the marketplace.

I will report back on whether it works.
