RutenRudi12 Apr 2016 23:22Hello everyone,
I hope I’ve chosen the right subforum. I’ve also searched the forum, but it was mostly about drawers, which unfortunately doesn’t help me.
Here’s my situation: I moved into a new apartment last week, which has a Faktum kitchen installed. I actually like it a lot! I wanted to buy soft-close dampers to retrofit it. I was able to order some for the drawers (phew!), as they are soon being discontinued; hopefully, they will arrive soon. For the cabinet doors, I was told I could use the dampers from Pax—the young lady even directed me to the right section in the warehouse. But there I only found complete hinges. I didn’t want those; I was looking for clip-on style dampers.
So, I quickly googled it. I found dampers from Blum, which also make the hinges. On Amazon, it said they work for Ikea kitchens, so I ordered those—but either I’m doing something wrong trying to attach them, or they simply don’t fit :/
I took some photos!

I’m pretty sure these parts are the wrong ones (anyone need 10 pcs?)—so, what can I do now? Are there any clip-on dampers available that I can use? I’m struggling a bit with these hinges, so I’d rather not replace them.
Does anyone have a clever tip?
Best regards

IKEA-Freund12 Apr 2016 23:35Simply put: the (rounded) part needs to become square.

RutenRudi12 Apr 2016 23:42Hi IKEA friend,
Thanks for your quick reply! So it looks like I can't avoid a complete renovation? Since it’s not my kitchen, fiddling around with it is rather inconvenient (I do have a Dremel tool, so it would be quick). If I have to renovate anyway, I guess I could just buy new hinges as well.
Oh, how frustrating!

IKEA-Experte13 Apr 2016 00:10You can quickly refine the holes. It’s even faster with a Dremel, if you can hold the tool so that the hole becomes square.
If you do it carefully, no one will notice afterwards, especially if you keep the dampers on.
If you mess it up, it’s not a big deal, as the alternative for fixing it is just replacing the hinges.

RutenRudi13 Apr 2016 00:17But I still have to take everything apart (which I want to avoid), so I don’t really have any advantage, right? Or are the snap-on clips better than the hinges?

IKEA-Experte13 Apr 2016 11:33This is not a big job. Try it with a hinge.
Advantages:
You save money.
With the surface-mounted dampers, you usually need only one damper per door. If you use Blum hinges with integrated soft-close, you have to replace every hinge, and the opening angle is reduced by 10° (10 degrees). In addition, there are no hinges with 5 mm (0.2 inch) mounting holes.
The KOMPLEMENT hinges for PAX come as a set with only two soft-close hinges and are no longer made by Blum. The plastic part inside the cup doesn’t look very reliable, and the cup is fastened with screws instead of clamps.
If you replace one of the hinges with a Utrusta hinge, you will need to drill the 5 mm (0.2 inch) holes in the door out to 8 mm (0.3 inch).
You can still order INTEGRAL hinges in the next six weeks. This is still a convenient alternative.
