Hello everyone,
I hope I’ve chosen the right subforum. I’ve also searched the forum, but it was mostly about drawers, which unfortunately doesn’t help me.
Here’s my situation: I moved into a new apartment last week, which has a Faktum kitchen installed. I actually like it a lot! I wanted to buy soft-close dampers to retrofit it. I was able to order some for the drawers (phew!), as they are soon being discontinued; hopefully, they will arrive soon. For the cabinet doors, I was told I could use the dampers from Pax—the young lady even directed me to the right section in the warehouse. But there I only found complete hinges. I didn’t want those; I was looking for clip-on style dampers.
So, I quickly googled it. I found dampers from Blum, which also make the hinges. On Amazon, it said they work for Ikea kitchens, so I ordered those—but either I’m doing something wrong trying to attach them, or they simply don’t fit :/
I took some photos!

I’m pretty sure these parts are the wrong ones (anyone need 10 pcs?)—so, what can I do now? Are there any clip-on dampers available that I can use? I’m struggling a bit with these hinges, so I’d rather not replace them.
Does anyone have a clever tip?
Best regards

RutenRudi13 Apr 2016 22:56Hi IKEA expert,
phew, a set of four Pax hinges costs me around 12€; since only two of them are soft-close, I’ll need five packs for 10 doors, which is a solid 70€... phew
If I replace them all with integral hinges, that’s an extra 40€ on top...
How much filing is actually required, just smoothing out the curves? And only the first hole, or the second one as well? In the linked thread, it seemed to be just the first opening.

I’ll have to first figure out how to remove them properly.

IKEA-Experte13 Apr 2016 23:06For 10 doors, you need 10 INTEGRAL hinges, which costs about 20 € plus shipping.
You only need to file the hole on the front side into a square shape, exactly as you marked it. Using a square key file made this very quick.
The hinges simply snap onto the mounting plate inside the cabinet, and on the door, you only need to open the cover. The hinge can be disassembled by unscrewing the screw and then pulling the parts apart. It’s really not complicated.

RutenRudi13 Apr 2016 23:39Hi IKEA expert,
Oh, so they are compatible! I thought I would have to replace both hinges every time.
When filing, do you mean only the front part, like "just the upper part," or in the direction of "towards the cabinet opening"?
I looked at the hinges again to figure out how to take them apart. Somehow, I’m not very good at this—I would just unscrew everything. Then I searched online for assembly instructions (which help a lot to recognize the process). I did have to apply some force (both when bending and positioning), but it worked!
Now I want to evaluate whether I should do this everywhere. It might be tricky with the display cabinet (because of the force involved), but do you think this is generally a concern?
Best regards

IKEA-Experte14 Apr 2016 15:30"Front" means closer to the viewer.
I have recorded the disassembly of the hinge with a soft-close mechanism:
You can also modify the damper. Personally, I would not recommend this approach because the damper will never engage as intended. This could lead to issues during installation and removal.
I don’t see why a display cabinet should be problematic. Installing the dampers does not require significant force.

RutenRudi14 Apr 2016 16:23Hi IKEA expert,
THANK YOU for the video. This makes things much clearer now. Am I right in understanding that the disassembly does not change the adjustment (tilt, etc.)?
And just to be sure: You mean the green side (the one with the Blum logo), correct?

I have now modified and installed two dampers; it takes some effort, but that’s fine. Disassembly, of course, is a different matter, but as has been mentioned here before: if in doubt, leave it in. As long as the doors hang straight, I also see no reason to remove them.
But I still want to try modifying them, especially on the display cabinet.

IKEA-Experte14 Apr 2016 17:46I mean red and green, but only in "the top layer."
If you disassemble the part, you’ll see how much the setting changes. Just give it a try, don’t be too cautious.
