Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the problem that hanging IKEA Metod doors is quite difficult. Especially when attaching the doors to the hinges, it is rather tedious to adjust them properly so that they close flush. I am wondering if there is a trick to hang IKEA Metod doors more easily and efficiently without putting strain on the hinges or door frames?
I am technically skilled, but it would be great if someone could share practical tips that go beyond the usual "just slot them in." Maybe there is a special method for hanging or a small aid that makes the mounting process easier.
Thanks for your advice!

Maybe the hinge plates are too tight? That’s exactly what I am referring to: If the hinges fit too tightly against the plates, you lose mobility.
I suggest carefully roughening or smoothing the tips or the contact point of the hinges with very fine sandpaper so they can rotate more easily.
Of course, only very gently and minimally, so the function is not impaired.
Another option is to check the hinge springs to see if they are too strong or stuck. These details are often overlooked, even though they are crucial.
In addition to the previous tips, I would like to emphasize the importance of following the IKEA assembly instructions and using the recommended tools during installation.
Although it may be tempting to adjust or modify the hinges, I advise doing so very carefully if any changes are necessary at all.
When mounting the door itself: the hinges usually require two hands to position them precisely. I have found it helpful to press the door edge against the cabinet and tilt it slightly to slowly engage the hinge. This reduces the risk of damaging or scratching the hinges.

I would like to add that the material of the door and the hinges can play a role during installation.
Sometimes, hinges on new furniture can be a bit stiff because they have not yet been broken in. A small drop of silicone spray on the hinge mechanism can help improve its movement.
However, you should be very careful with plastic parts and choose a spray that does not damage this material.
This is how I did it with my Metod doors, and it became noticeably easier to operate.

Finally, it should be mentioned that IKEA hinges can generally be adjusted after hanging to optimize the door alignment.
Ultimately, the biggest help is to work precisely with the right tools, handle the mechanics carefully, and proceed systematically rather than using force.
