Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install my kitchen using Ikea Metod cabinets and would like to use the soft-close drawer systems. I am wondering: What is the best systematic approach to assembling Ikea Metod cabinets with soft-close drawers to ensure I don’t overlook any parts and that the drawers end up working smoothly, precisely, and without issues?

I am especially interested in a structured, step-by-step process from preparation through the actual assembly to installation and final adjustment of the soft-close mechanism. What tools and aids help make this process easier?

I already have some experience with furniture assembly, but this time I want to focus on a systematic approach to avoid unpleasant surprises. Does anyone have tips or, even better, a checklist? Thanks in advance!

Tools: Use a cordless screwdriver with low torque.
Align the rails parallel, visually and by using a test drawer for verification.
Screws should be tightened loosely at first, then fully tightened.
Ensure the correct spacers are used during installation.
Do not apply force, as this can cause the material to warp.

Hello, I would like to revisit the installation of the soft-close mechanism. This mechanism is usually integrated into the drawer slides and ensures that the drawer closes smoothly. It is important that these drawer slides are mounted completely straight and cleanly. Mistakes here are the hardest to fix, so I always make it a habit to screw in each screw one by one while regularly checking with a spirit level.

Additionally, with Metod, the installation of the drawer fronts is not just about appearance – they also need to be aligned properly so that the soft-close system does not get blocked. After inserting the drawers, check the fronts and adjust them until the gaps between the fronts are even.

One more tip: The holes in the cabinet carcass for mounting the slides are often pre-drilled but not always 100% precise. Avoid over-drilling excessively, as this could damage the material.

If you have any questions about adjustment, feel free to ask!
