Hello everyone, I am planning to install several IKEA Metod cabinets with handleless fronts in my kitchen. I want to make sure that everything is stable, the fronts are mounted correctly, and no damage occurs, especially since the handleless doors seem a bit more delicate when opening and closing.
My main question is: What specific tips or procedures do you recommend for assembling Metod cabinets with handleless fronts safely and without any issues? Are there any particular considerations regarding alignment, fastening, or the use of hinges and locks that one should definitely keep in mind?
I look forward to your experiences and advice!

I'm really happy to see so many helpful tips here! 🙂
Last year, I installed my Metod kitchen with handleless fronts and can confirm that adjustment is very important, especially for the doors! I also recommend opening and closing the doors several times after hanging them so the mechanism can settle.
One extra tip: Sometimes small rubber buffers on the inside of the doors help reduce loud slamming. This makes the fronts more durable and pleasant to use every day! Good luck to everyone tackling this themselves!

Honestly, I don’t quite understand all the fuss about handleless fronts with Metod. Sure, a few millimeters (inches) of adjustment here and there, but basically, the IKEA concept is always the same. The push-to-open mechanism? Usually overrated—I prefer pressing on the door frame anyway, as it’s more durable. From my experience, the most important thing is a stable cabinet carcass and well-secured hinges; the rest is often just gimmicks.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the designs are great, but sometimes the excessive fine-tuning gets on my nerves. What do you think?

To be honest, I don’t quite understand all the fuss about handleless fronts in Metod.I see your point, but the mechanics of handleless fronts are more than just a design feature. Especially with push-to-open functions, precise spring pressure mechanisms are involved, and their adjustment ensures both functionality and durability.

The main thing is a sturdy carcass and well-attached hingesThat is of course the foundation, but without fine-tuning the front, the function can still be impaired or damage may occur due to incorrect pressure. Some care is definitely necessary—even if the basic installation seems straightforward.
My recommendation for handleless Metod cabinets: Use a steady hand during installation and avoid forcing the fronts at the hinges. I have also had good results adjusting the push-to-open mechanisms before the final assembly to prevent any surprises later on. Additionally, check that the screws are not overtightened, as this can affect stability.

Cecilera6619 May 2023 10:13As peovin already mentioned, the screw placement is crucial. Never tighten the screws too much, especially at the hinges, as this can cause misalignment.
Also, if you hang and align the fronts correctly, the tip-on mechanisms will work optimally. Check that the door panels lie flat, especially with handleless versions, as this significantly affects the feel.

Assemble the carcasses precisely at right angles, using a spirit level and, if necessary, angle guides. Thanks, Dirkmin, I will take that into account. Could you briefly explain whether I should check the alignment of the carcasses several times during assembly, or is it enough to do it once at the beginning? I’m concerned that the cabinets might shift slightly during installation as panels or connectors are added.
