Hello everyone,

I am looking for a gentle but effective method to clean my Ikea Besta furniture when it is heavily soiled. Specifically, I need to remove greasy, dried-on stains and general dirt buildup on the fronts and edges that have accumulated despite regular cleaning.

Of course, I want to avoid using products that could damage the surface or harm the protective coating. Maybe someone has experience with certain cleaning agents, home remedies, or techniques that work well without harming the furniture?

How do you clean your BESTA furniture when it is really dirty, and what would you recommend as dos and don'ts? Are there any particular products you find especially gentle and effective?

I look forward to your tips and experiences!

I also like to use a soft cloth with warm water and a mild detergent. For tougher stains, it can help to slightly dampen the cloth beforehand and let it sit on the surface for a short time. Afterwards, wipe dry quickly.

Professional furniture care products for lacquered surfaces can also help, but it is recommended to test them first on an inconspicuous area.

Thank you, that is a good reminder to handle furniture care products with caution and to always test them first.

What I’m still curious about: Does anyone know of specific products that work well and have been proven to be gentle on IKEA Besta? Not an all-purpose cleaner, but something specifically designed for lacquered melamine or MDF surfaces?

I like to use special furniture care products for lacquered surfaces on Ikea furniture that do not contain silicones or harsh chemicals.

A wax- or polymer-based product provides nourishment and simultaneously protects the finish. Always test it on a corner first to ensure it does not leave a matte surface.
